Portland wants to move him. Any interest here? Coming here and backing up Roy might give him time to both heal and develop. I'm willing to bet he would jump at the chance to come home. A potentially low risk-high reward situation for both him and the Pacers?

Could Roy play PF? If Oden panned out, imagine the nightmare that frontcourt could be for opponents...

What do you think would be sufficient to entice the Blazers without us giving away the store?

I'd take him as a backup C option. I wouldn't want to give up anything of real worth for him, however.

Pay the man $8.8 million (qualifying offer) next year to sit at least half the season, if not the whole season? I understand buying low, but I'd really have to move Posey in the deal, or get something else with Oden to convince me to do that deal, instead of just letting him sign his QO, rehab in Portland, and then just sign him outright the next offseason.

Oden is interesting. If healthy, Hibbert-Oden could be a very dominant frontline. I'd offer Ford + Posey + 2011 2nd for Oden + whatever Portland don't want. Wouldn't go much further than that though, considering that his career is probably over.

Having suffered a patella injury myself i would have to say no. There are just some things you cant recover from, and this is one of them.

Trade scraps for scraps doesn't make alot of sense to me. I agree that Oden may be worth a gamble if he had a year or two left on his contract where we felt he could return and produce, but to trade for a player that will be just as likely to retire or walk at the end of the year while not playing a single game this year isn't on my wish list.

I would love to see us be buyers today and try to make a run into the playoffs. I could also just as easily see us sell as the East has gotten alot better this week with DWill and CAnthony coming into our conference...things just got a bit tougher for next year as the Nets will be better.

I'd rather do Przybilla if I were dealing with Portland now. Oden needs to demonstrate that he can return before I'd want him.

I'm afraid though that Mike's injury leaves us short of trading pieces. it's pretty clear no one wants TJ expiring or not.

Oden is a boondoggle (this generation's Sam Bowie), plus he makes little sense for the Pacers. No way could you put him and Hibbert on the court together. They are both pure centers. They would get in each other's way on offense, and get torched on defense by every halfway decent opposing power forward.

Would much rather see the Pacers re-sign Foster for a couple more years--Foster, even at his age and with his injury history, is less risky than Oden.

If not Foster, then sign a reliable veteran backup center for a reasonable price. The Pacers don't need anyone spectacular, just someone who is dependable.

Id rather let Jeff walk unless we cant find another backup center,i just dont think he gives us enough scoring from the backup spot,when he's in the game we have no post up game at all and in McRoberts and Tyler we have two guys that give us hustle points and rebounds the way Jeff once did.

No thanks on re-signing Foster. He's a great dude and been through a lot with our team, but, he has value. Will ask for a number of years, because stability is the biggest issue he needs to address with his next contract, which may be his last contract in the NBA. He is not getting any younger, and, the way he has played in his career, he's been a true warrior. Diving on the court and fighting for loose balls. I love the man, because he bled and died for the blue and gold of the Pacers. But, his body is beat up. He's only heading down in his career and has been very injury prone the last few seasons.

As a team, we must always look for improvements. This is a position, where we can easily improve on, without giving somebody the house. We need to find another role player who will do all the small things and be a depth player. Theres tons of them out there, not nearly as beat up as Foster is.

Blake Griffin seems to be doing fine.

The Blazers wanted a king's ransom for Greg and will probably match any offer for him. With Roy playing the center position better at this point, I would rather focus on using our assets to get a traditional PF upgrade.
