I was watching some videos of Irving, that guy is phenomenal. Athleticism, handles, penetration skills, passing, good shooting form, he looks like the complete PG package. Still, it's a long shot that we get him. First he has to declare and if he declares we only have a 30% shot or so with the two picks.

If Irving does declare there is always the chance we could package like the 3rd and the 8th together in a trade to get the first pick. We will have a lot of options come draft time.

I would hope we dont have to package the picks to improve our position, kind of defeats the purpose of the trade. We have Sessions to run the point now, though I really would like to see Irving here I think we could possibly get two core pieces in this draft. I would be disappointed with getting only one.

What would Baron make on the open market in FA anyway?

Blake got 4m, Ridnour got the same, and Chris Duhon is making 3.5m so it's probably right around the MLE. If I'm him I tell the Cavs, I'll save you 18m let you play whoever you like at PG and be out of your hair and more or less make that acquisition of the luxury pick+plus getting rid of Mo Williams free.

I think a number of teams including the Lakers would seriously look at Baron as a possible starting PG. It's been years since he played on a good team.

It's hard to gauge what he'd get considering his new contract would be under the new CBA.

If we draft Irving, I'd prefer to do what you suggested. Offer him half of the guaranteed money remaining on his contract and let him move on. If they keep him....Irving, Sessions, and Baron would all be battling for minutes at PG. That's way too crowded IMO.

I think the Lakers would definitely take a hard look at him for the MLE. He'd get to go back home, play on a good team, and (presumably) player under a good coach. That sounds like a situation that would get him motivated again and when he's motivated he's actually a pretty solid player.

Ya it's tough to tell what the player's actually still like in a good situation versus poor because as much as Arenas has struggled he's at least become a much better passer than I remember him being. Davis is selfish but when he's surrounded by good talent he passes plenty. A lot of players like him base themselves on whether or not they respect the talent around them. Guys like Steve Nash are a rarity. He makes everyone better. Davis has to be on a good team to do it. I think you would have seen a very different Davis had the Clippers kept Brand.

This. Also i hope mo does well in his future, i always liked him but this was a great deal for us. 2 picks in the top 10, draft day will be exciting.
