^^^^ Which way were you going to go with that? Mo Williams had a bad contract and Baron Davis had a worse contract. Baron has more talent, but makes Josh Smith seem even-keeled in comparison. Mo Williams did nothing for me. If we acquired him instead of Ramon Sessions I would have been beyond consoling. At least with Hinrich I can reason out that defense was the motivating factor. I'm probably too hard on Mo, but I'm not a fan of his in any sense of the word. I had him ranked as one of the worst potential PG acquisitions.

The deal will send Joel Pryzbilla, cash and other players back to Charlotte. The Bobcats had been working hard to save money and that seems to be what they get out of this deal. Not players that make them better.http://www.fanfeedr.com/nba/2011/02/23/ ... -charlotte

Excellent trade for Portland.

It's going to be nice having Gerald Wallace out of Charlotte.

Willingness to take on salary and expiring contracts can net talent. If all it took was Pryzbilla then it is a steal.

It appears this deal is dead at the present time.

^^^^ What I read was that Jordan got cold feet. You either rebuild or you don't rebuild, but you have to make a decision before the assets lose too much value.

Damn the Clippers pick that went to Cleveland with Baron's salary was an unprotected pick. Impressive move by the Cavs.

Gerald Wallace does a great deal of work in the community, so while Jordan is doing what he can to save money, I think trading Gerald Wallace is one of the last moves he needs to make. I think Boris Diaw and Stephen Jackson need to be moved first.

My point is, if Gerald is just moved for a expiring contract, I doubt it sits well with the Charlotte fans.

Wallace sent to Portland for Pryz, Dante Cunningham and 2 1sts
Nazr Mohammad to OKC for DJ White and Mo Pete

Not as bad as when I thought it was a 2nd round pick, but they are waving a white flag in Charlotte

Kudos to Houston, turning an expiring Brooks into Goran Dragic and a 1st and an expiring Battier into a 1st and Thabeet.

I can't begin to comprehend what the Celtics have done today.

^^ Not sure if a late 1st in this draft actually has + value. It's a guaranteed contract for someone whose talent would be a early to mid-2nd rounder in a "normal" draft. CHA getting the 2nd 1st from POR (if both picks are POR's) is prolly the best pick that's been traded (well, outside of LAC's unprotected 1st next year... a top 10 pick is still pretty nice).

Can't say I'd be too disappointed with what CHA has done. Sure, it always sucks to go into rebuilding mode, but apparently Wallace was starting to show age so their rebuild timeline was set for them - they had to deal him now before it was too late to get anything. If they get anything from a group that consists White, Cunningham, and the 2 picks, then they could turn things around quickly there. Quickly enough so that the pick they already dealt to CHI wouldn't be worth too much? That's really the marker for CHA right now...

Daryl Morey (Houston GM) has made some very good trades over the years. Some haters on the GB that are attacking Morey but I like what he did. It's not like Brooks had a future with the team, he was already upset about coming off the bench, and it was going to be Battier's last season with the team.

Jordan apparently held out and it worked. Solid return for Charlotte depending on how the draft picks turn out.

Boston trading Kendrick Perkins surprised me. Luckily for Perkins OKC is a contender, but I doubt it's the ideal location for him to live, so we'll see if he signs long-term.

I'm guessing that the Celtics have expectations of signing several buyout players as they send Erden and Harangody for a pick and Daniels for cash. That should leave them with 12 players. Troy Murphy, TJ Ford, and even Nate Robinson are rumored to be possibly bought out and go to Boston for next to nothing.

I dislike Baron Davis as much as the next guy....but would anyone here be opposed to Bibby+Marvin for Baron+unprotected 1st or Bibby+Zaza for Baron and an unprotected 1st?

Leon Powe was bought out by the Cavs. Wouldn't mind adding his energy and toughness to the bench.

That's a lot of salary difference to buy an unprotected first. I'd do it if I had Quicken money, but the Hawks owners don't have that kind of scratch.

And regardless of what pick it turns out to be I'm not drafting a dime a dozen F out of UNC (Barnes, Henson, etc. no freaking way).

Would I have done it or do I think we would have?

Personally, I would have pulled the trigger on several deals that have been rumored. JC1 to POR (if the return was slightly less than Wallace), Sessions, etc. But I would have simply been trying to put together the best team possible without regard to cap or LT, so it wouldn't have really been realistic.

As far as what I think we would have done, it appears that we weren't willing to take on (much) salary in any trade. LAC freed up about $4M per year for the next 3 years which is not something I think we would be willing to give up. Even if LAC would have taken an adjusted trade (say, Marvin + Bibby for Baron + a pick... protection negotiable), I'm still not sure we would have taken the extra $$ in year 3 - even though years 2 and 4, we would have cleared head room against the LT.

Rough start in Washington for the former Hawks. 4-13 9 pts. (no Bibby, mostly Mo) 4 assists (all Bibby).

10 pts on 5/9 shooting in 17 minutes for Jordan tonight. Nothing in particular worth noting for Bibby or Evans.

Got to see some of that Washington game. Jordan did some nice things.

Nick Young is really scoring the ball. Hes getting a lot more shots but scoring well. Nice player.
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

Bibby agrees to a buyout. Rumors have him going to Miami after clearing waivers.
