GT: Wolves/Hornets

Post#2 » by Klomp » Sat Feb 26, 2011 12:42 am

Just a few things for the pre-game:

1. The Wolves enter this game very, very light in the shooting guard department. Corey Brewer, of course, is gone. Martell Webster will dress, but his lower back is still very, very sore and he is doubtful, according to coach Kurt Rambis. And Wayne Ellington is out of town dealing with a personal matter. When asked who would backup Wes Johnson, Rambis scanned the assembled reporters. Haha.

2. Jonny Flynn will return to action after letting his hip and groin muscles rest for three games. It will be his first action since Feb. 14 against Portland. Flynn will come off the bench, with Luke double starting.

3. Kevin Love will go for double-double No. 45 straight tonight. He is currently tied with Moses Malone (1982-83) for longest streak since the NBA and ABA merged. I talked with Love a bit before the game about the perception by some that the streak has become more important than anything else. I'll writ about it in tomorrow's notebook.

Are we 2-0, or 3-0 against them this year?

Optimistic but pessimistic as always, the Hornets will be wanting revenge after we've humliated them TWICE this season. Man was I proud when we beat them over in New Orleans.

I hope your prediction is correct. And not just 2min or so to tease us.

2. Jonny Flynn will return to action after letting his hip and groin muscles rest for three games. It will be his first action since Feb. 14 against Portland. Flynn will come off the bench, with Luke double starting.

Double starting? Or is it Luke Double? Either way could someone explain.

Exactly, I'm thinking they'd want revenge on us.

However, Wes Johnson is our SG... but who else? Am I missing someone? Can Lazar play SG?

Yeah, i got to think we see Randolph at the 3, or Tolliver at the 3 and Randolph at the 4. With short bench tonight, Johnson and Lazar will probably have to exclusively play the 2.

Okafor is probably out so I think Min should win, I'll give it 70% chance for that.

I think that means Ridnour is our SG by default tonight. He's doubling as our best PG and SG? That's what I made out of it anyway.

So we'll probably see some Jonny/Luke backcourt action.

It would be nice to see Love break Malone's record with a big 20-20 game and a win. They may need to play Randolph at shooting guard tonight.

Beasley is very mobile... I know he plays SF/PF but how about some minutes on SG ? What do you think guys ? He would have height advantage.

I heard West was out though. They'll have Landry though, who has given us trouble in the past.
