That was no illusion on your part. People can say it's revisionism but the truth is that, despite his excellent assist numbers, Williams is not in the elite class of passers. His transition passing is average, and Paul, Kidd, Nash and Rondo are all streets ahead when it comes to putting the ball precisely where it needs to be in that respect and especially in the half court. Of course, none of them could hold a candle to Deron's ability to hit a distant jumper off the dribble.

Ok, so that makes him the 5th best passer in the game... I can live with that.

Actually I think his half court passing was not as accurate this year as it has been in past years. Much probably has to do with the wrist. But the original quote wasn't about his passing ability as a whole, it was about throwing oops up to his team mates. His timing seems off and the pass never goes where it needs to. It seems high or low. One of the last games here he threw an oop to Evans. Evans made the dunk but he had to reach below the rim about a foot just to catch the ball and bring it up to dunk.

Deron throws good alley oops when he is close to the basket on a fast break. Similar to the one he threw Griffin in the All star game. But longer passes are hard to be accurate on and Earl Watson is better at them then Deron was. Just an observation.

Bout time he woke up, I thought he just hadn't regained his confidence since his injury a few years back, Al is so talented though, he should be over 20/12 if he can stay sharp....

Deron's debut tonight in San Antonio:
14 points, 12 assists, and 4 rebounds in 41 minutes. He shot 5-13 and 0-3 from 3's so he's still struggling with his shots I guess. Didn't watch the game so not really sure how he did.

New Jersey lost, so it's good if they continue to pile up the L's for us.

I wish him and New Jersey the best. And I would like to see Deron have some success in Jersey. San Antonio is a tough start, and Deron's wrist is on his shooting hand; it will affect his shooting.

Sorry i'm a bit late but i still can't belieeeve this trade happened. First sloan, and then D Will. Two of the most valuable people in the franchise,, gone. Umm what next?

I don't know how you jazz fans could deal with sloan's constant smug smirk on his face or D will's arrogant cockyness he shows after he plays us every game. But sloan's one of the best coaches in the nba. And Dwill, is one of the best PG's. Idk. This isn't the way to rebuild by getting rid of one of the nba's best pg's/coaches.
Anything i missed? Any particular reason Dwill left? Sloan left cuz of Dwill, and Dwill left because? He still had 3 yrs in his contract. Educate me pls.

Well, we can't all be graced with the maturity and humility of Tracy McGrady, Steve Francis, and Moochie Norris, but we got by okay.

Williams didn't have three years left on his contract. He was signed for 2011-2012, and had an option for 2012-2013 (which he obviously was going to opt out of). The writing was on the wall that D-Will was gone. Rather than let him turn the Jazz's upcoming season into a Carmelo-style circus, management went out and got a great package for him.
