I just think that to max out his potential he needs to always look for his shot to keep defenses honest and there should be plenty of shots to go around now with Wallace gone.

I didn't mean to sound like he was horrible on defense, sorry.

Well there are other guys his size who defend better. Most are older, but he could definitely learn a thing or two from guys like avery bradley who are both better at defense and younger. I think he needs some upper body strength and confidence.

DJ's on ball D is solid, it's his rotations, switching, help d is where he gets completely lost.

I think it's because he tries to anticipate them too much, and cheat towards where he expects the play to result in. Then his man gets the ball and scores.

Obviously not every time or even most of the time, but We see it far too often.

mikecranston1 Can Gerald Henderson be consistent enough to keep the #Bobcats in the playoff race? http://bit.ly/eyUefs

I think so. If you look at the stats, he usually has a few good games followed by one bad game.

I'm guessing 38-40 wins for us this year, which should be enough to sneak in. Here's to hoping for an epic Indiana breakdown.

I think 38-40 is really optimistic. We're on pace for 36 wins as it is, and we just traded away our best player. Do you really see us going 14-9 the rest of the way? Even 12-11 is a stretch.

I get that you guys are excited about Hendo, but the expectations are a little unreasonable. Seriously, what is the best-case scenario for an SG who can't shoot 3s at all, isn't a distributor (pretty much at all) and is only average finishing at the rim? Ronnie Brewer? Dahntay Jones?

I don't see how he becomes more than a role player/stopper unless something very drastic happens with his shooting. Certainly I don't get how he has higher potential than DJ or Tyrus.

I've always said that Henderson is a Dahntay Jones clone. Dahntay has been a serviceable starter in the past. I expect 10-15ppg max from Henderson once he finally settles down. His value is in defense, like Raja Bell.

Looking at our schedule:

@ Denver - Loss
@ LA Lakers - Win, of course
@ Portland - Loss
vs LA Clippers - Win
vs Chicago - Loss
vs Portland - Win
@ Toronto - Win
@ Houston - Win
@ Oklahoma City - Loss
@ San Antonio - Loss
vs Indiana - Win
@ Boston - Loss
vs New York - Loss
vs Milwaukee - Win
vs Cleveland - Win
@ Orlando - Loss
vs Washington - Win
@ Cleveland - Win
vs Orlando - Win
@ Miami - Loss
vs Detroit - Win
@ New Jersey - Loss
vs Atlanta - Win

I have 13. That would be 39 wins on the season.

Looking at Indy's schedule, I don't see them winning more than 10 games. So, based on the current standings, we need 11 wins.

Philadelphia, Indiana, Charlotte, Milwaukee

Two of those teams will be in the playoffs.

Can you think of any players who were as incompetent from 3 as Henderson has been so far (4/19, 2/17) who later became good shooters?

It's not as if he got drafted as a high schooler, he's 23 now and has shown nothing on that front. He was OK, I guess, at Duke, but that's both a shorter line and worse defense (and, I might add, a better team relative to the competition). For me to take him seriously as an NBA starter, he needs to be able to shoot minimum 33% from 3... and that's a long way from 6/36.

That's not really enough shots to really judge. You're not really taking them on purpose at that rate.
