He's seems to be a average defender, good rebounder and finisher at the rim. He's very athletic and a hustle guy. I only saw him in 4 games or so, but when i saw him i saw big potential. He had his first rookie season under Larry Brown, who hates rookies and doesnt let them develop.

Well, why not?

Because he hasn't shown any improvement?

He's already got a decent catch and shoot midrange game, and athleticism and effort on defense. I think his defense is improving, since he was drafted.

He has a mid range J? He has a jump shot at all?????

Well when I say midrange I mean between like 8ft to the 3pt line. He can make shots around 8-14 feet pretty well on the catch and shoot kinda deal, or drive and dunk. He's useless beyond the arc though. Doesn't have the handles to get deep enough to score and can't shoot from out there.

I think he's the best offensive rebounder on the team, maybe after Diop because Diop is just so good at offensive rebounding.

EDIT: Just for a comparison, on 2k11 (I know, meaningless) Jax and DJ both have an 80 on midrange shooting, and DBrown is not too far behind with a 74.

This board has always seemed kind of contradictory with their Derrick Brown hate. People here seem to sing the praises of DJ and Henderson and blame LB for his stifling of their development but somehow D. Brown doesn't get the same treatment. Someone's going to say, "but Brown doesn't play much even after Silas came in so he must suck" but Brown is/was buried behind Wallace, Jax, Eddie Money and even Dom McGuire. Now that Wallace is gone and Dom is likely not resigned, D. Brown would finally get a chance to crack the rotation as the next best offensive option behind Jax.

I hope DB's back. At the very least, with Wallace gone and Tyrus sidelined, we need someone that can bring the house down.
Humble yourself.

There is that one game when Derrick started and crumbled. Silas said it is on him as he overtaunted him but regardless of that posters will hold that against him. And yes unless he gets a ball open under the basket, puts it back or finishes on fastbreak he doesn't have much of an offensive arsenal nor he creates his own shot well.

There are plenty of players that don't create their own shot well. He can catch and shoot, drive, and grab offensive boards. Combine that with decent defense and great strength and athleticism and you have a decent bench player.

and i'll say it again.. if d brown wants to remain in the nba he needs to find his niche. he needs to realize that his best case scenario is that of role player. his niche must be something other than dunking because there will always be a younger 2nd rounder who will come in a put on a dunk show. brown needs to either become a defensive stopper, a ferocious rebounder or a deadly corner 3 specialist. he will not make it much longer as a tweener who can dunk.
