GT- Mavericks @ Wiz- Saturday, Feb 26th, 8 pm EST
This is my first game thread. Let's see how this goes.
Possible starters for the Wiz:
PG- John Wall- He seems to have his confidence up since the all-star break, and he's been using his jets in the open floor a lot more. I want to see him break Kidd's ankles and make JJ Barea look like Elian Gonzalez.
SG- ???- Nick sprained his ankle last night, so we could get a heavy dose of Cartier and Crawford. At this point, I'd like to see what "Jamal" can do
SF- Josh Howard- He's slowly coming back into the fold. Against his old team, I expect him to have some extra motivation. Perhaps smoke an additional blunt before the game?
PF- Shard- He played last night, but showed some signs that his injury might still bother him. I'd like to see more Booker, as I remember him doing a decent job on Dirk last time. Might also see some Yi, since Flip has the yellow fever.
C- McGee- He played with a lot of energy last night and put up great numbers, which means that Flip will probably sit him today.
Interesting matchups:
Wall vs Kidd = youngster vs savvy vet, always intersting
Chandler vs McGee = mirror images of each other, battling it out
Question: Will C-Butt be in the house? Would be interesting to see if the fans show any love or recognition. Haywood should be here, too. I think it's fair to boo him like we always wanted to. D Steve will forever have a place in my heart for his hatred of LeBron. Him and Jordan Crawford should get together for coffee to discuss. I would pay for their coffee.

Oh wait. Why do I keep thinking that Barea is from Cuba?

I think there are alot of interesting matchups here. Howard back against the Mavs, a red hot Chandler vs a very confident McGee, and most of all the backcourts. Its not just Wall vs Kidd but its Wall & NY vs Kidd & Beaubois. Who will guard who?
On the real, the Mavs love Roddy way more then Kidd. I already seen them debating about which guy they should put on NY. I think the same goes for us. You would love to have Wall guarding Kidd but then its going to be 6'7 NY on 6ft Roddy. Is that a good thing when Roddy is a scorer?
On the other hand, NY is a great man defender and could be athletic enough to stay with him. Maybe still, you would rather have the speedy Wall guarding the speedy Beaubois. Then NY would be at the top of the D alot on Kidd which would be something new for him. Its hard to tell but maybe we should start NY on Roddy, even with the size differene.
The same thing goes on the other side. You know how I feel and I hope Flip is smart enough. The Mavs love Roddy & Terry but if they put those 2 super small cats on NY then I say post him all game untilt they stop it. NY should hurt them and it will take away from there Offense. Flip isnt smart enough to do it though and I could see them putting Kidd on NY alot anyways and letting Roddy guard the super fast Wall. Terry will still guard NY when he's in though.
If Kidd is on NY then we shouold still go to NY and let him take Kidd off the dribble. If NY's ankle is right and his IQ has gotten better then he should again dominate this game like he did the last. He has the matchup and if you want to get paid then you have to be consistent. Do it again NY

If we play with the same effort and intensity as yesterday, we win... Simple as that...
That being said, Wiz lose by 15 with Dirk going crazy...

Well, there's also the small matter of Nick Young scoring 38 points on 18 shots. I don't think we can expect him to score 35+ points with a TS% of 86% every night.

True, but if Wade didn't went of like he did, we might've won last night...

McGee HAS to keep his eye on Chandler, or we'll be seeing allot of alley-oops from them...

Up and down first quarter, but we're only down 1. I'll take it.

I actually like what Bibby gives this team on the floor way better than Hinrich.

Jesus, McGee's positioning this game. That aside, boys playing another good team well.
