Butler was a good soldier for the Clips last year, The Clips did the right thing and released him. Butler did the right thing & never openly complained. Good luck, Rasual

Good for him. This was expected, and he deserved to go on and play for a playoff team that could use his services. He played every game for us last season and broke the all-time clipper 3-point record for a season. This season, he has kept his head up and supported his teammates even though he wasn't playing much. The Bulls were a team that was looking at him last summer, and it could be a good fit. They need a shooter and some help at the 2 guard.

Can you give a scouting report?

Glad to hear he'll get a chance elsewhere. He should definitely get some minutes in Chicago since they're apparently short at the SG position.

Yeah, it was disappointing to see him fall out of the rotation after having a pretty good season last year. Hope he does well in Chicago.

Well, not too great that he's leaving, only because we need to have MORE veterans, and less rookies...But I guess it was just inevitable.

Just curious, what was our motivation (and teams' motivations in general to buy out their players' contracts)? Is it just to get them off of the books?

Pretty much expected.

He's a pretty good shooter(when his feet are set), can play some defense and grab a rebound or two but hasn't got any handles at all.

We save some money(but not much) on this and satisfy a vet, which in future negotiations as players and agents value us as a decent - good franchise that respects players.

Not that Rasual was a bad player to have on the team, afterall he did set the 3pt shooting record for us last year, but the move to resign him was a bit of a head scratcher. Nonetheless, I'm glad both sides were able to reach an agreement and I'm glad to hear that his skills are sought out from some teams around the league. As well, it'll be good for Willie to move up on the pecking order a bit. Best of luck Rasual!

Det pretty much summed him up. His minutes were pretty inconsistent this season and was logging minutes with inexperienced rookies. Last season, he had more playing time, but was playing primarily out of position at small forward. Last season, he had a stretch where he went 1 for 16 from 3 over 7 games. He also went through a period where he knocked down nearly 3 a game at 45% for a whole month. He's streaky, but when's he's on, he's on. Defense is alright. He'll get you an occasional block. Not that great of a rebounder, but you guys have one of best (if not the best) rebounding team in the league. I doubt that he'll see many minutes with you (due to having Brewer and Korver), but it'll help to have him available at times when you need a big bucket.

After awhile I figured this would happen, I wish Rasual all the best with his new team.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!
