Jason Kapono

we need to do more, it is a shame that our best long range shooter is Josh Smith. we need to trim the fat and get some players that can actually contribute. could we cut Powell and Etan and pick up Jason Kapono, Mo Pete, and Murphy? if we try to get all three we could cut Jason as well

I think we are at 14 at this moment, so we don't need to cut a player to get one.
The main problem is the Tax, and I tried to show that in the Brewer thread.

Pick up Brewer and Kapono and cut Etan.Murphy is out of the question with Miami, Boston, LA salivating over him being waived

We can't.
We seem to have just enough to add a minimum salary, but not two.
If you cut Etan, he won't leave you the remaining part of his salary, he only get a minimum contract. All these minimum players won't give one dollars on their contract.

So if cutting one players would put us at 13 players, it doesn't change anything since we would pay tax if we sign two guys.

Brewer would be good if we could get rid of Marvin, but we can't. so we need outside shooting. Kapono is one of the best in the league at that, Murphy ain't bad at it either, But Mo Pete can defend and hit from outside. Brewer is only defense.

I think Marvin and Zaza are gone next summer or maybe even the draft to get back in the first,so sign Brewer now and maybe he can thrive in a motion offense and be under the basket at the right time.We already know he has defense, shooting needs more consistency, and being back with Horford will make him feel comfortable.
