Hawks/Nuggets thread
OK, I'll start one. We're jumpshooting fools right now and Nene is too strong for us. Still, we're beating them with defense. Looks like the good defense is here to stay.

Re: Hawks/Nuggets thread
Smoove is killing me, standing at the top of the 3pt arc, begging for the ball EVERY possession. He's hitting 'em, at the moment, so it's not so bad. He's worrying me, though, won't even look inside.
Teague is looking good (watching? Larry Drew?) against a fast and quick Ty Lawson.

Back 2 back for us! Denver is favored to win by 6.5 points.

Outside of Vince Carter...I'd say that Crawford has the best 40 foot jumpshot in the league.
I'd also like to point out that I don't understand the Billups for Felton portion of the trade for Denver-unless Melo specifically wanted to play with Chauncey?

Re: Hawks/Nuggets thread
Teague goes out; Jamal comes in to run the offense. We give up most of our lead and our defense immediately suffers. Teague comes back in; we stretch back out the lead. We need to give Teague/Hinrich all 48 minutes at PG. Let Jamal play SG behind Joe.

My thought is that, even though they had Felton's contract timed to end when Chris Paul/Deron Williams become FAs, Billups' deal if for even more $$$, freeing up more for 2012.

Why no Kirk Hinrich?

Joe gets fewer calls than any star in the NBA.

Re: Hawks/Nuggets thread
Story of the half, our starters are all +. while Jamal(-7) and our bench are negatives. DEN's starters are ALL negatives while their bench - Felton(+7), Andersen(+4) and Harrington(+4) are taking it to us.
I guess Hinrich's calf is keeping him out, so the benches become the deciding factor. Bodes poorly for us.

Sorry to be so negative but, judging by the flow, it looks as if any minute DEN is going to take off and leave us.

Nice offense, fellas. Pretty ugly stuff.
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

Re: Hawks/Nuggets thread
No Hinrich, no Smoove for the 2nd half and not much from our bench = 10 point loss.
DEN's too deep for us. They ground us down. To be honest, however, their guards made some shots that were so wet that they should have had to call 'em first.
And Marvelous's shot is too flat. Everything looks great, then he throws it on a line.
Horford's midrange shot is beautiful.

That basically sums it up.
It's a shame that Josh Smith sprained his MCL.
I like Denver's new core and how they play. They have a great deal of talent and youth that should only grow to become a successful group.

I wonder do the "Josh Smith Haters"/"I like Josh, but we should trade him, people still think Josh needs to be traded?!?!?Hawks could have beat the Nuggets with Josh defensive presence alone even without Hinrich and he still had 19 pts, 7 reb, 3 assist, and 2 blocks in one half of play.Lets hope it is just a nag and nothing serious..

Yes. We lost to the Nuggets without him, but you're talking about replacing his contributions with nothing, while in a trade we would likely be replacing his production with a C and/or PG.

years of clearing cap space to make a run for the summer of Amare/Bosh/Wade/Bron and the FA that comes away with the biggest contract is...Joe Johnson?

Re: Hawks/Nuggets thread
But who will give us a PG or C that can replace him through a trade!?!?!?! Nobody will bcuz those defensive styled guys are more than likely a top 2 guy on their team.Only available guys that could match Smiths Defensive presence and still produce offensively at C or Pg are Bogut, Steph Curry maybe, and Al Jefferson maybe and note i said "AVAILABLE" that teams are willing to give up..I'm pretty sure if a bunch of others guys were available then Josh would be gone, seeing as Atlanta dangled him on the block
Im just saying..

ATL has never dangled Josh on the block according to everyone but Chad Ford.

Re: Hawks/Nuggets thread
The rumor wasn't that Josh was being tangled, but that the Hawks were listening to offers. Even at that it was insinuated that the Hawks would have to be floored by an offer to do a deal. This tact makes sense to me because although you aren't going to get what you want for him in trade it is good to let everyone on the team know not to be too comfortable (you got to bring it all the time).
