seriously we need to draft-- perry jones a player whose fast and can run with john wall, athletically gifted, even rebounds , with his frail body, great ball handler, jumpshot good-not consistent, but i promise this guy wont be lazy like Blatche, and as for mcgee he just needs major help!

Re: Official Trade Thread XV
I don't know why we're talking about Booker os much in this particular thread, but I'll throw in my 2 cents. Booker looks short for a PF.
Booker's standing reach appears comparable to other successful PF's, meaning opposing players shouldn't have an overly easy time shooting over him.
Bookers wingspan is significantly shorter than some other PF's, such as Millsap. I still can't fully wrap my mind around how Booker could be shorter, have the same standing reach, but a shorter wingspan. Is he just narrower through the chest and back? In any case, a shorter wingspan may imply that players could have an easier time going around booker than they otherwise would.
Booker does not lack the bulk or strength to play PF. I can't recall a single instance where Booker has been bullied. He looked significantly stonger than Elton Brand in their head to head matchup. Booker didn't earn the nickname, "grown ass man", because he is too weak to play PF in the NBA. If booker never becomes a good starter, it isn't going to be because he is too light or too weak. Frankly, I think that argument is a bit silly.
Back to the trade topic...does anybody think Favors could be had for a top 5 pick and Blatche?

No, on the top 5 pick and Blatche for Favors being realistic. Favors could go #1 in this draft if he were in it. Like it or not, Blatche probably currently has negative trade value with his contract. I think that could change if he plays better this season or gets in shape in the off season and plays with more energy and focus.

Booker and Milsap both measured 6' 6.25" without shoes at the combine.
If you want to see a weird measurement combo check this out.
Shelden Williams
6' 7.5" w/o shoes
7' 4.5" wingspan
8' 8" standing reach

I guess his long neck and 8-head are why his standing reach comes up so much shorter than you would expect. Wide shoulders probably play a role also.

The impression I got from watching him was that he has a Blatche-like capacity to stand still and stare at the ball instead of getting after it. He just didn't seem like he had much of a motor. Caveat: I only watched him for a few possessions.
As the season wears on, I find myself leaning most towards Sullinger among the college players. He has three of the qualities we need most: toughness, a motor, and brains. I also have a lot of interest in Kanter and Valanciunas, though I'm only going by the scouting reports. It's hard to get a handle on how well they compare to the NCAA's best.

I still think (assuming we get lucky) that using our top pick as incentive for Kyrie Irving as a means to dump Lewis is the way to go. I already posted a Cleveland idea, but what about Utah?
Okur+Harris for Lewis and a swap of our pick with NJ's pick? NJ has the 6th worst record now. We'd still get to draft one of: Perry Jones, Derrick Williams, Sullinger, Jonas V, or Kanter.
If we did that deal above, I'd try and move Harris+McGee to Portland for Batum+Camby, although Portland has said Batum is off-limits.
Or heck, I'd call Sacremento and offer Harris+McGee+NJ lotto pick () for Cousins+Udrich. Sac can draft Kanter, upgrade at PG with Harris, and have McGee as the 3rd big, while getting rid of Udrich's deal. Wiz get a very competent backup PG in Udrich while reuniting Wall with Cousins. I'd then deal Blatche for Josh Childress to get a competent SF and balance out the lineup. Potential lineup would be:
PG: Wall/Udrich
SG: Young/Crawford
SF: Childress/Howard
PF: Okur/Booker
C: Cousins/Seraphin
In that scenio, we are set up big time for 2012 FA potentially.
Basically, all we need is to land the #1 pick again and leverage it for more talent. Easier said then done, right

Seeing Nivek's sheep with the missile launcher reminds me of "F-150". Ram tough, hooah, hooah!

I like this as a potential 'best case scenario on draft day' plan. Sac may prefer to take our #1 pick straight up though. Im undecided at the moment who fits in better at PG nex to Tyreke, Devin or Kyrie? I would think off the bat that both would fit well, but Kyrie being younger they may want to go for youth if they are giving away youth in a trade.

I don't see Utah paying $12M while also giving up two decent players just to move up from #6 to #1.

Re: Official Trade Thread XV
So I am by no means good at this trade thing but in the spirit of not having Andray on the team next year here are a couple of possibilities that involve capitalizing on having a very high or even potentially the first overall pick and specifically having the ability to dangle Kyrie Irving in front of a team that's in the same position the Wizards were last year, in need of a potentially franchise-defining point guard. This would allow Washington to move Blatche for a package with some value and specifically including a reasonably high pick.
Utah has already been discussed and while the New Jersey pick is likely to be a pretty good value the Jazz would either have to return one of the veterans already mentioned (Okur maybe) who, while okay, aren't going to do much good here, or to give up Derrick Favors, which would probably mean forgoing the pick. Neither scenario is inconceivable but let's set them aside for now.
The other two targets that appear to me to be potentially attractive are Charlotte and Toronto. Charlotte already has a decent young point guard in DJ Augustin, so the white whale there might be one of the big men at the top of the draft. The two potential targets in a swap would be Tyrus Thomas or Amir Johnson, because Charlotte's pick is likely to be later in the lottery either an additional pick from their package from the Blazers or a future pick might be involved there.
So the two trades would be:
Washington Outgoing
Blatche
2011 First round pick
Incoming
Johnson
2011 Toronto First
or
Thomas
2011 Charlotte first and potentially an additional pick.
Either could be modified with throw-ins, say picking Livingston back up from Charlotte or one of Toronto's wings, but those would be ancillary.
NOW, if you've read all that or if you just skipped to the trades you might suppose that the NBA is a league of stars and that opting out of such a high pick is a bad idea, especially considering that both Johnson and Thomas are roughly the same age and size as Blatche and make roughly the same amount of money and aren't noticeably better from a counting-stat perspective. You may be right but here are a couple points to the contrary:
- Both guys are tops on their respective teams in adjusted +/- this year among players who've played a significant number of minutes.
- Both are better rebounders and shot blockers than Blatche, and are significantly better from an offensive efficiency standpoint, Thomas scores at roughly an equivalent rate to Blatche but with slightly above average efficiency whereas Johnson scores less (but still more than our other options at power forward) but with great efficiency.
- Both are better fits in the up tempo style that would seem to fit the Wizards' roster.
- Both would allow the Wizards to at least experiment with bring JaVale off of the bench once the team feels comfortable starting Seraphin, and would complement his physical style with speed and athleticism.
So, that's what I got. Maybe not a great idea but an idea.
Edit: Also, dammit the Knicks you already have a good team don't go claiming young players the bad teams would like to have.

This board, this community, is pretty accepting of people's opinions - strong opinions. This isn't the Knicks board, where you could get suspended for - I forget what Ji got banned for, but it was nothing at all really. But you, you are over the line.
Look, dude. After your 7-day vacation hits, take a second to step back from the ledge and cool off a bit. Don't avoid thie board, but visit it - even in suspended status - just to read the posts from everyone. Keep up with the team and board. But also please consider your posting style.
By the way, guidelines and rules (with letters) are here for you to read and stickied at the top of forum page.
You're been a long-time member of this board. I hope you'll continue to be an active and contributing forum participant. But only if you don't negatively impact the experiences of the other board members.
Please think about it.

Will someone take Lewis off our hands to take a flier on McGee/Blatche?
Let's see how this goes.
Wizards trade:
Javale McGee
Andray Blatche
Rashard Lewis
Suns trade:
Vince Carter
Marcin Gortat
Why for the Wizards? They clear Rashard's salary quickly and efficiently, while only taking on Gortat as a long term contract. Vince gets bought out or something, don't really want him in the locker room.
Why for the Suns? They get young talent who might benefit from a change of scenery.

That's a good try, but I think Gortat has been such a revelation there that they're going to hold onto him - unless someone gives them an amazing offer - and taking on the contracts of Blatche and Lewis doesn't qualify.

I like the framework of this idea: Blatche plus our high pick for a slightly better young player plus a lower pick.
A lot would have to depend on how the lottery and the draft shakes out. I don't want this trade to end up costing us a shot at a true star-caliber player. If, for example, we have the 2nd or 3rd pick in the draft, we'd be downgrading from Sullinger to someone like Barnes just for the opportunity to dump Blatche. I think I'd rather just draft Sullinger and then try to dump Blatche for a 2012 contract. On the other hand, if we're sitting at #1 and can pull this off while falling down to #3, then it's a no-brainer. Or, if we're sitting at #6 and staring at Derrick Williams (who is solid, but not a two-way star), I wouldn't mind trading down to #10 or so if we upgraded Blatche in the process.

I think it would be a potential disaster to trade down. Our best bet with Blatche is to hope - hope he comes to camp next year healthy and in much better shape. Giving up assets to dump players - when your assets are already so low - is not the way to go, imo.

It would be sweet to land the #1 pick, have Cleveland land the #3, and then swap #1 + Blatche for #3 plus Varajeo. Draft Sullinger at #3 and roll with:
PG Wall
SG Young/Crawford
SF Lewis/#20 pick
PF Sullinger/Booker
C Varejao/McGee
It would be nice if McGee "got it" and managed to take the starting role from Varejao. Then the lineup would have real good balance.
