Re: Eating Crow II
I'm pretty happy with this year as far as eating crow. The only thing I said that didn't turn out was that ATL would overpay. I figured we would dangle either a 1st or a prospect, but I didn't think we'd ship both... not for Hinrich at least. For what I put out there (which admittedly wasn't nearly as much as some others), I came fairly close on most - which is better than some years.
I figure a lot of those who said NY wouldn't gut the team for 'Melo stuff doesn't really account for some of the concerns in NBA FO's though. After the LeBron circus last off-season, I can't see the new CBA not having a "Franchise Player" option in it. No way the league will allow 1 player to dominate the off-season like LeBron did last year (I mean, c'mon, a hour long special to ditch the hometown fans?!? Despicable really...). It was either make the trade now or make a similar deal later... except that later meant that 'Melo would have several suitors who could change his mind about his only destination - and DEN would hold more cards than they do now.

I kept saying the 3 days before the trade deadline would be pretty dead because of worry about a new CBA
I was right except for the 50 or so players that got traded

Ok i'll eat a little crow too. I was pretty convinced Courtney Lee was going to Chicago. I would'e been willing to bet alot of money on him going to the windy city. It didnt happen.

Re: Eating Crow II
I thought Kaman was a near lock to get traded for expirings and a little additive, for Sterling to save money going into Deandre Jordan's payday. I didn't imagine they'd trade a LOTTO PICK to dump Baron for Mo which saves them the same amount as just trading Kaman would've

I said teams wouldn't be scared of the new CBA, and we'd see a lot of buying this year.
Said Blazers shouldn't trade Roy for a shorter awful contract, because we didn't know if he was done or not.

Thank you for all the memories BRoy. You were a class act and brought hope to an entire region for 5 years. You will be missed.

Re: Eating Crow II
I need to eat a little crow... no way I thought Walsh would pay so much for Melo. However, I think it was Dolan that ultimately bid against himself, not Walsh.

I, along with plenty of other Rockets' board posters, was ready to trade Budinger for peanuts. Although his recent resurgence may just be a fluke, I'm glad that we managed to get a pick out of Bat's contract.

Yea i'll eat plenty of Birdinger crow allright. I was ready to ship him out for a late first. But he played like a bucket of suck in the beginning of the season. Nice to see him turn it around.

Re: Eating Crow II
To be fair, no way did I think Memphis dropped Thabeet without a pair of second rounders. Regardless of whether he was worth that, just the emotional cost of cutting a 2nd pick and admitting failure.
+1 on this. If I recall Toronto was getting a 1st for Reggie Evans, and a combination of expirings + prospects for Barbosa Calderon, Indiana and GS (and I'm sure others) had expiring contracts worth at least starters at bargain salaries, Detroit had a handful of 1st rounders in T-mac and Prince, and Minnesota had 3 1st rounders in cap space alone.

Re: Eating Crow II
I was right about everything (except dumping Hedo) that Toronto has been rumored to do the past 12 months
-Said they would get Bosh for nothing
-Said James Johnson for a first was happening
-Said no way would they move their expiring deals and get back a first
-Said no way would they trade Barbosa and get back expiring contracts
I was right NY would pay the premium to get Anthony
I was wrong about the following since 03/10
-James to Miami
-Morrow being a good starter out of Golden State
-Thought Houston would dump Jefferies to get out of the tax
-Thought T-Mac was a horrid signing for Chicago
Probably other stuff too but I can't remember that was said in one thread.
