A mod should probably delete his post but it might be more of a punishment to leave it up. It's pretty funny. Maybe quote it and put it into the HOF thread so Fokus can't delete it.

PG Wall
SG Young/Crawford
SF Lewis/#20 pick
PF Sullinger/Booker
C Varejao/McGee

It would be nice if McGee "got it" and managed to take the starting role from Varejao. Then the lineup would have real good balance.

I don't think we'd have to use our own lottery pick to help trade Blatche. If that's what it took, I'd pass and try to rebuild Blatche's value a bit or find another means to trade him. Trading players at their absolute lowest value is something we've done a lot lately. I'd like to see that change.

Now a Varejao/Blatche swap is something I've been behind for a while. Maybe the Cavs take the risk because of Blatche's upside and still relatively modest contract for a starter. The cupboard is so bare in Cleveland that I think its not out of the realm of possibility Cleveland goes for it.

Damn...talk about taking a message board too seriously.

Log off. Like right now. Go to 5th street and get you an Andray Blatche special. Maybe that'll help you relax.

Fokus, fwiw - the mods here gave you a lot more chances than you would have gotten on any other board that I've seen.

I kinda got the idea that Ace-D was having an Al Pacino/Godfather thing of late with the "I'm trying to get out, but they keep pulling me back in" sort of thing. Seemed like he was making an effort to be more positive, but he just had a number of running feuds that kept cropping up.

Pretty nice to hear that there's a dirt file on any of us that use the same user name on another site.

Let's see, I think the only other place I use "Hoopalotta" is on grooveshark.

I'll just fess up now: I've got a large bluegrass playlist over there. :cowboy:

Ruzious wrote:I think it would be a potential disaster to trade down. Our best bet with Blatche is to hope - hope he comes to camp next year healthy and in much better shape. Giving up assets to dump players - when your assets are already so low - is not the way to go, imo.

I agree with this line of thinking. We can't give up draft position just to dump a moderate salary we can afford. We are in a position to have plenty of cap room in 2012, and are we really that likely to land a max contract guy like Dwight Howard anyway?

Now, I wouldn't mind trading assets for assets. I would love to find a way to package McGee for a better player, whether or not that other player is a big. I know I'm probably harping on this too much lately, but McGee's defense is terrible, and I have seen no improvements. I like Seraphin's future much more than McGee's. IMHO, he puts the "ass" in "asset".

I still like any package that sends away Blatche and Mcgee, that could potentially bring us a young player with the potential to be a star. Blatche, McGee and the 3rd pick for Steph Curry, Favors, or Cousins for instance.

Is it possible to do a sign and trade for David West? I was reading what BrooklynBulls wrote in the Bulls/Wiz game thread and I honestly had never thought about West being a guy we could go after. I'd trade Blatche and our Hawks 1st round pick in a sign and trade scenario.

I wouldn't give up that much for any of those guys, at least not by themselves. I wouldn't be opposed to shopping that package, though.

I don't begrudge anyone if they aren't a fan of those trades but I want to reiterate that neither is purely intended to be a dump; both are designed to give up relatively little in draft position while trading Andray for a better player on a roughly equivalent contract, both Johnson and Thomas are actually players I want, not just guys who aren't Andray. Particularly the Toronto trade is meant to take advantage of being in a position to draft a player (Irving) that other teams would value much more highly than the Wizards.

Assuming the Raptors aren't especially unlucky and don't improve significantly for the remainder of the year their pick should probably still allow Washington to draft someone like Sullinger, Valanciunas or Kanter and with Johnson on board I'd personally be much more comfortable with Sullinger or Kanter. Johnson would take the quicker big man defensively and cover for the other guy in terms of help defense while the big guy would cover for Johnson's lack of strength.

Heck if you don't like McGee you could probably manage both trades, trade Blatche/1st to Toronto for Johnson/1st and McGee to Charlotte for Thomas/one of their firsts and pair one with the fat guy we draft and one with the fat guy we have (Seraphin) on the second unit and then see if Barnes or Burks or something is still around with the additional pick.

Basically what I was saying is that in this draft if Irving comes out there may be a big big difference for a number of teams between being able to draft him and being able to draft anyone else and if Washington is in a position to decide who can draft Irving it makes sense to me to use that as an asset in trade.

I wouldn't give up the #3 pick for any of those guys except Josh Smith. Blatche and/or McGee? That's a different story. I wouldn't mind trading McGee for Batum and drafting Valunciunas at #3.

Hmmm...

Trade 1: Blatche+3 for Smith
Trade 2: McGee for Batum

Sign Nick Young to the QO and pursue a stop-gap option in the middle like Dalembert or Kristic on a 1-2 year deal.

Dalembert/Seraphin
Smith/Lewis/Booker
Batum/Lewis
Young/Crawford
Wall/FA

Add in whoever we take with the ATL pick and we should be much improved. Assuming Seraphin becomes another version of Perkins, we could be set for a while.
