Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves (Trade Deadline Edition)
Didn't; know where to put this. But it's about another team, so here goes.
Looks like a full-scale mutiny happening in Detroit. The inmates are running the asylum. Of course, Kuester had been kind of acting odd lately in his coaching. What's going on between he and Rip??

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves (Trade Deadline Edition)
What will management do to punish half the team in Detroit? McGrady laughed when Kuester was traded. These are established players. Prince rocking the boat?
This protest, however, IMO is no different than what Flip did at a practice earlier this season.
Could it be Kuester alone gets fired for losing the confidence of half his team?

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves (Trade Deadline Edition)
Not having any intimate knowledge of the situation I can only make stuff up but it seems like it's not all Kuester but it is somewhat Kuester that's the issue.
Part of the issue seems to be that you have some of the team's veterans, particularly Rip but also Prince and maybe whoever else plays for the Pistons who didn't sign up for a rebuilding effort and aren't down with yielding playing time to young guys they think they're better than, but because Kuester is a lame duck coach anyway and because they're guys who were involved in last really positive thing in Detroit since Robocop died they aren't going to be quiet about it.
Part of it is the fact that The Pistons have been throwing out strange contracts for about the past half decade and it's catching up with the team because it seems like half the team is on a dead weight contract at this point and I'm sure it makes the players very happy to know not even the Pistons want them.
Part of it is also probably just Kuester, because I have never ever heard anybody say a single nice thing about him as a coach. Not a one.
Sooo, Kuester gets fired, the Pistons remain bad in the short term and I continue to assume that they signed Fat Tracy McGrady because T-Mac is seeing Joe Dumars on the side.
I hope they let us sign Jonas Jerebko for cheap this off season; that would be cool.

Hamilton at center of Pistons’ turmoil
About a week prior to his banishment to the Detroit Pistons’ bench in January, Richard Hamilton(notes) berated coach John Kuester in a jarring and expletive-filled diatribe on the practice court, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
As stunned coaches and teammates watched, Hamilton bellowed at Kuester that he had been a failure in his two seasons in Detroit, blown the opportunity the franchise afforded him and was nothing more than a career assistant coach, sources said. Despite Hamilton yelling within inches of him, Kuester didn’t respond.
Several of the team’s younger players were mortified watching it and privately told agents and associates they wished they had the courage to stand up, confront Hamilton and try to take control back from the disgruntled veteran. Nevertheless, Hamilton influences a powerful lobby in the Pistons’ locker room, including veteran leaders Tayshaun Prince(notes) and Ben Wallace(notes).

Detroit should have done itself a favor and traded Rip and a pick just to get them off their hands. He still has 1 year left on his deal IIRC.

My thing is, they could have traded him but Rip said no? Does he have a no trade clause or something? Detroit should have just traded him anyway and let him be Cleveland's problem.

Cleveland wasn't going to make the deal if Rip wasn't going to show up and be a good soldier.

So now Bibby's going to sign with the Heat? They make it so easy to hate them. I don't know if I have ever rooted against a team as fervently as I will root against the Heat in this year's playoffs. Seriously, is there anyone who actually roots for these guys? Can anyone find some redeeming quality to this and feel good about cheering for them? Anyone over the age of 14, that is...

It's an old one, but I bet "The Striped Shirt Guy" cheers for the Heat.

I think the Bulls can take them in a series, so could Boston. Orlando? Not so sure, probably not.
I think the Knicks hurt themselves with the Melo trade, most lopsided trade ever on-behalf of the team giving-up a franchise player.

rooting for the bulls, celtics, or miami? sorry, but orlando's the only team in championship contention that i will even consider rooting for.
also, color me impressed at how much Howard's offensive game has improved. now color me depressed that mcgee isn't making the same strides that dwight's been taking.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves (Trade Deadline Edition)
Call me nuts, but I think come playoff time, Miami goes only as far as their 35 year old backup center - who was unemployed at the start of the season - takes them. They sorely lack a big inside presence on defense, and Dampier is the only guy on the roster who might be able to provide it. I heard Legler spewing the same old garbage the other day about Lebron and Wade not being a good combo - and the reason they haven't been beating the better teams. Bolognais, Legs. It's that they're Sharmin soft up front. Just because Lebron and Wade are best with the ball in their hands doesn't mean they can't play great together. They can go with the one who has the weaker defender on him, and it's not like either one of them can't catch and shoot. These 2 are 2 of the best who ever played the game. Normal rules of thumb don't apply to them. (Unfortunately, other rules don't seem to apply to Lebron - like travelling and offensive fouls, but that's another issue.)

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.
