artest>kobe at the TRI

Post#1 » by TruSkool » Wed Mar 2, 2011 2:19 pm

artest is better than kobe at the triangle offense, says phil jackson....although its more of a knock on kobe because he tends to defer from it, than it is a praise for artest.

i bet kobe will ignore this one like he never heard it and artest will sign a 10 year 10 million dollar contract due to his growing love for the zen master.

wow, that was unexpected. Hopefully it doesn't ruin our momentum.

Media is going to have a field day with this.

Kobe does tend to go away from the triangle and ISO. Would love him to set more people up.... oh well.

Again, you have to understand Phil. I have been saying all year long guys watch the games with their hearts instead of their eyes but I stopped elaborating on it because of comments like "well we won so thats all i care about"

Truthfully speaking that's the attitude of teams that come in 2nd place & below. Championship teams try to fix & tweak even while winning.

Phil's statement is to get Kobe to run the offense & make the correct choices. It's not always about him jacking shots. Its usually about shot selection & choosing to take tough contested shots with someone else open. Last night he had to yell at Kobe in the 1st quarter "GET THE BALL INSIDE"! PJ understands that's the formula to another chip but Kobe is so talented plus the talent that's around him we get away with it often. With less than 20 to go in the regular season don't be surprised to see Phil start cracking the whip more.

Yeah, that's just Phil publicly reminding Kobe that the playoffs are around the corner and that he needs to start getting into the habit of playing the right way so that the team as a whole gets into playoff mode.

Phil should also remind Kobe, its better to play D early on your man even if he's some no name scrub.....I'm getting tired of Kobe ALWAYS allowing his man to get off early before he decides to actually play tighter....OKC it was Thabo getting off early cause Kobe didn't feel like challenging him until he started knocking down and was the leading scorer for the 1st qtr, last nite it was Wes Johnson doing the same....this is why I always wonder how Kobe has gotten 1st team all D the last 2-3yrs, all he does is "ROAM" and wait until his man actually gets hot before he does anything on D.

I'm pretty sure kobe was guarding westbrook most of the time.

so who was guarding Wes Johnson last nite? let me guess NO ONE? You cant deny Kobe doesn't do this ALL the time when it comes to guarding "Nobodies" and even the somebodies he hasn't done that great of a job at times.

I think that Kobe just doesn't care much anymore about the first 50-60 games of the season. I honestly can't blame him.

and Wes Johnson? as far as Westbrook goes, he didn't seem to do a very good job either in the 1st half and he has ALWAYS done this roaming crap and not defending his man till proven worthy throughout the years.

+1 Good post AB. As good as Kobe is I'm not too high on him taking as much shots as he does when we have 2 7 footers that take less shots than he does some nights. So if Phil has to use the media to remind Kobe of how things need to be done I'm all for it.

phil was just joking, and throwing in a semi small jab at kobe, the way friends do to each other all the time. i don't think he was trying to coach him, it was just phil having fun and kidding around pre game

If Kobe plays defense he will be rewarded by going away from the Triangle.
