Re: 2010/11 NCAA Game Thread/Prospects Watch
I went to a SoCon school and have seen quite a bit of Curry. He isn't athletic. I think its remarkable how well he's succeeded in the NBA, but maybe it is just the GS system.
Really there was no excuse for Morrison to do that badly in the NBA. But becuase we took Morrison there is no way we take Jimmer. Which is a shame, becuase I am willing to bet $1,000 the team that takes Jimmer gets a serviceable player starter/6th man type.

Re: 2010/11 NCAA Game Thread/Prospects Watch
I missed the first half thanks to an intramural game but caught the majority of the second. Three plays in particular stand out to me.
1. Kendall Marshall saving the ball and five holing Zeller to start a fast break
2. Jordan Williams getting like 4 offensive rebounds in one possession to get a bucket
3. Harrison Barnes getting an offensive rebound and pump faking Williams to put the game away
Williams definitely uses his "bulk" to his advantage in the post and is able to push guys around a bit, especially for rebounds. But, I saw him huffing and puffing a lot out there, which is understandable because he had to stick Zeller and Henson.
He has a lot of talent though, but I'd like to see him stick around in school for another year or so to work on his body and conditioning more. He also seems to be a bit short in the arms or something, not real sure.

Thanks SWedd.
How did Williams score his points? Just by creating space or does he actually have a post game with legit post moves?
Do you think he could log some mins at the 5 with Tyrus at the 4, or do you think he's a little undersized?

Re: 2010/11 NCAA Game Thread/Prospects Watch
Remember, all I can speak for is the second half.
Everything I saw from him was rebounds and putbacks. His teammate would miss the jumper, he'd grab the board and go back up with it. Everything else was a dump down for a turnaround jump hook. I didn't really see any fancy footwork or counters or anything like that. But then again, I wasn't really watching FOR him that much.
I like how he never gives up on a board, he has tremendous second jump ability for a bigger guy and seems to be light on his feet when he's not tired. I'd really like to see him lose a bit of weight though.
He just seems a bit smallish to me. I really can't tell what it is, either he has short arms or is short in general or maybe it's just because he's "wide". He definitely has the strength to bang down low, but I don't think he could do it on a really consistent basis

That's awesome feedback - thanks. I watched him about a month ago Vs Virginia and he had a stinker so I really didn't get a good read on him at all.
Now we have that Hornets pick I want to learn a little more about him and hope to check him out some more.

I agree that despite his bulk he seemed small. I think some of that may be the wingspan both Zeller and Henson possess. They are so long they make people with normal arms look short.
I thought he was effective when he got the ball. I could not believe how bad the rest of the team was at entry passes. One pass they through directly to Zeller. Also he wore down as the game progressed from chasing Zeller, Henson and Knox around. UNC threw three guys at him since there was not another true post threat on that team.

Re: 2010/11 NCAA Game Thread/Prospects Watch
Just some things:
1) Curry > Fredette in every way entering the NBA....
2) Terrence Jones, Sullinger, and for whatever reason Kemba Walkers values are on the fall.
3) Kemba Walker > Jimmer
4) Jujuan Johnson = a much better and refined version of D. Blair (spurs), oh and has more potential.
5) Harrison Barnes will probably land at the 6 or 7 spot in the draft.
6) If the Cavs get the #1 pick then Kyrie Irving is picked first, also I think the Cavs have the Clippers 1st pick.... If so then we could see them grab D.Will at that spot (if not Perry Jones).
7) The best pick at #10 is probably going to be Kwahi Leonard, who i wouldnt mind grabbing.
8) The Biggest sleeper in the draft is either Demetri MCamey (who is vastly overlooked) or Kieth Benson (who I would love us to grab).

Would love to grab Benson if he's still on the board with the Hornets pick.

You won't find another player in the country that can make a 45 ft bounce pass like Kendall Marshall can.

Re: 2010/11 NCAA Game Thread/Prospects Watch
Barnes just needs to work on his left hand a little bit - not really much flaws in his game. I still see the Kobe comparisons that people talked about coming out of high school. The smooth mid range game and the way he gets in the lane and attacks rebounds. Not sure he'll ever be as aggressive (or as good) as Kobe but can see him being a 20ppg guy at some point
Marshall is just awesome. Great floor leader, great vision, totally composed
Henson and Zeller have been quite good this year though I wouldn't want to be drafting them in the mid first round.

Re: 2010/11 NCAA Game Thread/Prospects Watch
How many game winners is that for Barnes now? You can say whatever you want about the guy, but he shows the **** up when the game is on the line!
I've actually been pretty impressed with Barnes' left hand and only really see hit shooting percentages as an issue because he really doesn't have any glaring hole in his game. He's taken good shots, played good D, he just hasn't hit on many shots. If his % was average (46 or so) then he'd have another 3-4 points added to his average.
Marshall (now the leading assist man in the ACC--as a freshman) is going to be a fantastic player in the next year or two, so please do yourself a favor and keep an eye on him. The only things keeping him out of the "elite" category are his lack of outside shooting (can be fixed) and lack of quickness (can't). However, as long as he stays in school, you'll see him blossom.
Henson is the classic college big man. Long, lanky, and uses his athleticism to his advantage against smaller guys. He won't have much of an NBA career because he isn't the best shooter from the elbow and he's too skinny, so I'd stay away from him.
Zeller is just a little too thin to be a dependable NBA center and just a little too slow to be a dependable NBA power forward. If he can pack a bit more muscle on his frame then I'd definitely take a look at him. He's apparently the fastest guy on the team (hearsay)
