OT - Anyone else think Troy Murphy is being Overrated?

Post#1 » by Leor_77 » Thu Mar 3, 2011 11:31 pm

It seems like when the Celtics signed him, they were celebrating, and that there were big pictures of him everywhere, with everyone holding their breath to see where he would land. To me, he is a decent outside shooter, and can get rebounds just by virtue of being a big body on the court, but he is a horrible defender. He wasn't even starting over Humphries in New Jersey. I don't think he's a horrible player, but he is being waaay overrated.

IMO, Shaq and KG are the only defensive concerns for the Lakers...I don't think Krstic, Davis, Murphy, etc. really can guard Bynum, Gasol and Odom. Frankly, I don't think they can even hold a candle to them.

I don't think he's overrated at all. Most people don't view him as a savior. They view him as a bonus piece to the playoff puzzle. A big man who can rebound and shoot from the outside is hard to find. It adds a different element to your offense.

He's viewed as overrated after many of "u yute's " dont get your way and have him decide to come to the Lakers where he would realistically only get a few spot min's here and there if he's lucky....lol

Props to Joe Pesci!

Everyone that was waived was waived for a reason.....They only can bring 1 dimension if that to a contending team and to be honest with you ...i could prob do that!

There's only room for one white soft player on this team.

OMG! Word! I was sitting there on my couch watching the Magic @ Miami and as soon as Miller flipped that ball to a WIDE OPEN James on the perimeter. I said outloud before LBJ took the shot "Magic about to win cos Bron can't close." Sure enough Brick city! Magic for the win.

"I don’t want to just meet LeBron, I want to destroy him on the court one day.”

Murphy's a good bball player who will help the celtics offense, but I think they were a better team with perkins. i can quote a bunch of celtics fans and even coaches themselves who were whining how they lost the finals because perksin wasn't there. And now they try to defend his trade. Nice.

He's going to be as important to them as Nate R was.

It's human nature to want to bash a player that signs with a rival team. It helps to ease the mind by dismissing that the new addition could actually make them more of a threat. At the same time, it's also human nature to overrate the player a little bit if he had signed with your favorite team.
