He'll rap circles around Wiz, body him in a battle and than sleep comfortably in his place among emcees with five mic albums. Wiz though, is just a different type of artist. I don't think he necessarily WANTED to go pop, I'd bet the machine MADE him move in that direction. After grinding and mixtape after mixtape, he finally got offered that shot at a major and took it.

On J. Cole vs Yelawolf...lyrically it's not even close. Cole is one of the top up and coming lyrical emcees. To say you slept on him or that his problems have been done before...you musta been asleep forreal. Dude keeps it real. He's talking about young man problems for the most part, so maybe you're older than relating to it or maybe you've lived in a bubble...but his ish is very easy to relate to for the people I know. Now if you want to say that he's not musically entertaining for you...different story. Stick to that. Yelawolf, for me personally, is nothing special. His delivery needs a ton of work and his flow is forced at times. He has a unique voice that's hate it or love it. I could see why people like him though, he's got some substance and is certainly a breath of fresh air (just not my style). I won't hate on him but I DO believe talking about Shady Records deal as a badge of honor is nonsense. He got signed because he's marketable. J. Cole got a deal faster and is with just as good a team. Comparing the two is apples to oranges.

I'ma have to stop you right there. I got a couple pre- Black and Yellow hype songs that beg to differ.

J Cole isn't lyrical nothing. Someone lyrical would be someone like Nas. J Cole has stories. And when he tries to add in metaphors, they come off pretty lame.

And for someone who really understands rhyme scheme, I'd think you'd like Yelawolf more because his writing is insane. His descriptions and story telling are both really good; he's very colorful in his songs and it's easy to see what he's talking about.

I beg to differ. His metaphors are on point.

ghost should leave that alone. that'd be like picking on the special kid in class.

yelawolf is ok. his flow is nasty but his voice is irritating in large doses. i prefer his partner rittz who has a far less annoying voice, but an equally dope (if not better) flow.

The first verse of Pop the Trunk is written so well it's not even funny. Listen to the first line. That's great writing man. And the song is very good.

If you're going to showcase Cole, don't throw out The Last Stretch. That song does nothing for me except when I'm at the gym. It pumps me up and adds an extra gear to my adrenaline. Love that song, but not for this debate.

J Cole song>>>>>>>>>>Yelawolf song. Yelawolf sounds wild generic. It's just White Raper Syndrome. Whenever a white rapper pops up he gets highly overrated.

Meth lab in the back and the crack smoke pills through the streets like an early morning fog

If that doesn't set the mood and the location of what the **** is going on I don't know what does. It's called story telling.

The way he delivers this part is Bone Thugs like. If you think he's a generic white rapper you're nuts.

he raps like a generic southern black rapper which is unusual but I just cant stand his voice and I dont relate to his lyrics at all. I guess I've just never "popped the trunk" on someone. I dont like Lil Wayne/Gucci/Jeezy either and from his mixtape trunk muzik I dont see what seperates him from that group.

That's fine. But there is a difference between someone isn't your style and saying someone isn't good. I don't think relating to someone should stop you from expanding your musical interest. He's storytelling and is keeping it real. That's all I care for. As long as he keeps it real with skill and he does and has that.

I don't like Lil Wayne either. Lil Wayne spits lines. Yelawolf makes SONGS. This is a good SONG it has parts and it's well done. Lil Wayne just has punchlines.

Dude, you wouldn't know good writing if it smacked you in the face.

There's more to rap than J Cole's lame ass lyricism and "struggle".

LOL Your joking. How is this writing good? Your in love with this guy seriously. He's wack sauce man. You making him sound like he's some kind of OMG book writer when his shyt is simple. I don't like Lupe that much but he writes circles around this guy. So does Kanye and J Cole.

Three songs out of a catalogue that's like 60 songs deep. I could paint Outkast, Common or any number of emcees as attempting to go Pop by that foolish logic. Stop hating, stop reaching...you don't like him and tha's fine. His new single off a major is wack...indeed...but stop reaching smh.
