Series Thread: Oakland A's v. Seattle Mariners

Post#1 » by Sweezo » Mon Apr 2, 2007 5:26 pm

HAPPY OPENING DAY! Ahhhh...isn't this what America is all about? Ideally?

It's hard to put too much stock into the first game in a 162 haul, but this is a big game for the M's. Felix needs to come out and impose his will in his first Opening Day start, and the M's need to show that they can actually score some runs against Haren and all other pitchers that the A's trot out against them this series.

The A's beat us soundly last season 17-2, and if it weren't for those games they quite likely wouldn't have won the division. The A's are a franchise that I ultimately despise but thoroughly respect...they humiliate the M's so often that, really, what other mindset can you have?

Beane is a genius who can out-GM Bavasi any day of the week, but I still hope the M's can scratch out a win today. Let everyone else in the AL West hand the A's the division this year...not us.

Hopefully the wiretap story is true......

I need to get extra innings.

I can't live without seeing the M's this year.....

I know, that sounds pathetic.

This is the only way i've been able to watch Mariners games from Florida.....

Now it's exclusive to Direct TV. Which I do not have.

Opening Day....start out with a clean slate, where even the most pessimistic of fans can have an optimistic view on where their team is going. If the M's lose again, and it's because the offense comes up sputtering, then it's going to cause some flashbacks of last years debacle against the A's...please M's, get some hits, score some runs, early!!

Felix 9 K's through 6 and only 2 hits, 1 BB allowed. This is his breakout season.

Yea, and Kendall is tough to strike out. One of the toughest K's in the MLB.

If any team has given the Mariners more fits than Oakland, I can't think of that team.

An opening day win (and series win) would be joyous.

Felix is a stud. The Mariners will have a shot in this division if he keeps this up. And of course if Sexson and Beltre actually show up this season.

Holy hell...I was in court all afternoon and just got out in time to listen to the ninth inning. Sounds like Felix was just dominant. Wow...

Nice to see Sexson come around. He wasn't very good during the spring, so I didn't know what to expect out of him come regular season time.
