For guys like Mark said though, is it even about sales? They can go on tour for the rest of their lives and be set. People show up for Jedi Mind Tricks/AOTP/Vinnie Paz, people show up for Atmosphere, Ill Bill does well for himself. I think people need to realize that these guys don't do it for sales, but rather establishing the fan base. I rarely buy anything these days, but if someone is around I'm probably going to see them.

Thanks Stutter! Respect bro!

Manhattan Project is right 100% its not about the sales. Its about the love of the game. These guys and myself included, we love to make music, and we love to touch people with our music. Whether its 50, 500, or 500,000 its all for the love of the game.

no its not about the sales, but hes talking about how they should be on majors.
sales would be an issue then.

Yeah that's true for the most part, can't really deny that. Bottom line is that at the end of the day it is about the sales for Majors, but I even consider Def Jux, Rhymesayers, Showoff to be major these days. Do those guys sell? It's a moot point really.

There's honestly a fine line between indie/major these days

My point was there's way better artists out there than Yelawolf, Wiz Khalifa, etc. that don't get the proper recognition that they deserve. The industry is ass backwards.

markdeez, you know what happens when you assume? Do not just say Yelawolf doesn't understand hip hop history without listening to the man speak or even listening to his song where he pays homage to artists like UGK all the time.

Dude said himself that white people should stop using the word ****:

“People are still judging immediately,” Yela said referring to critics of his image as a white emcee. “They’re not even giving music a chance. And on the flip side, I met somebody last night who had [my album] Trunk Muzik downloaded without any artwork and somehow had never seen a picture of me and said, ‘Oh my G-d, I didn’t know you was white, that’s crazy’. What the f*ck? I didn’t know you was white?’ I didn’t know how, in this day and age but I think it said a lot about my music and it said a lot about that person too. To me, I make music and I respect black culture. At the end of the day, this is black music and it’s American black music. I was watching a documentary on The Rolling Stones and listening to Keith Richards talking about his passion for American black music, that’s what created The Stones. We can’t forget that here in America. If you’re a white boy and you’re doing this, it’s something you have to respect. The roots of this is black music, black culture. You have to accept it and not just accept it, but embrace it, love it and be proud of it….” (XXL Mag)

Clutch: So what about the last album you bought personally?

Yelawolf: When I was at Sound Set I bought the whole Heiroglyphics collection. Yea I re-bought all of that. That was the last album I purchased.

Yelawolf: Yea, I bought Full Circle. I bought ’93 Til, I bought Del’s old classic, cause they had their booth up there at Sound Set, and I just got it all.

Yelawolf: Yea, I met Del, Fresco, Casual, A-Plus, Opio, Domino, I met the whole crew while I was up there at Sound Set. It was crazy man. They did ’93 Til, they did You’ll never know, live, it was crazy man.

And if you don’t know about it, just say you don’t know about it. It’s cool. Get to know it. Ya know? Be open to old school ****, and respect the people that opened up the door and allowed you to be able to do this. White boys gotta remember this is a black culture. Don’t ever forget that. Don’t forget where the roots of this music come from and be respectful, ya know? So, I mean, thats pretty much it

Skip to the final minute where he names his favorite albums of all time:

Yeah the dude knows what he's talking about. Don't disrespect the dude because he's white. He's nothing like Eminem. He's white and they both have mad tattoos. And Eminem **** ripped off Nas' entire flow from It Ain't Hard to Tell on Infinite so does that mean he sucks? All hip hop artists bite off each other and change it. It's called art. There is no original art. Just the original MCs and from then on it's changed, altered and given it's own taste.

OK finally finished the Reks album, it is better than Grey Hairs. I have a feeling that a lot of the tracks are really going to grow on me a lot.

@j4remi when someone like Busta, Twista or Joell rap that fast, most people just get caught up in the flow and it's something just different that stands out. However when someone like RA does it, not only does he have the flow but he still rips it with the lyrics.

props to yelawolf for shouting out group home's album.
sonically, one of the best produced hip-hop albums of all time.

just from personal experience, skaters are some of the most knowledgeable people i've talked to when it comes to hip-hop. they might not have been part of the so-called culture, but they sure do appreciate the music.

Completely agree...there are rappers that do Double Time proper...and then there are guys who just rap for speed. Twista can bust bars when he speeds it up....Busta can too...but Busta is just looking for head turning speed now and he's done it on like three recent tracks. It gets old when that's all you're doing without proper depth.

I remember thinking Do or Die was the ish just because they could flow quick over slow smooth beats.
