Re: The Official Boxing Thread
Rios/Acosta was a damn good fight and an early fight of the year candidate. Rios broke his right hand during the fight, so he'll be out of action for a while but there was a talk of him facing Barrera next? Brutal, early KO written all over it.

Re: The Official Boxing Thread
Nonito Donaire likely to face Anselmo Moreno next on May 28.
http://ringtv.craveonline.com/blog/1275 ... ars-likely
Moreno is the current #2 bantemweight contender on The Ring's list (Donaire is #1), but I think the Agebko-Mares winner on April 23 will leapfrog Moreno for his spot, setting up would could be another small bantamweight tournament except this one has all the alphabet titles as well as the linear title.

that's a surprising. out of all the beltholders he couldve picked from 118-122, moreno has gotta be the least lucrative fight.
moreno is a sick defensive fighter. reminds me a bit of sweet pea, with his upper body movement, but all he throws is pitty pat punches. so maybe hes more like paul spadafora. there is some risk there for nonito, but he wont have to worry about getting hurt in this fight.
i wouldve rather seen him start moving up.
btw if you didnt see it last night, make sure you check ismayl sillakh's fight on espn3.
he's one of my favorite prospects in all of boxing. he's the complete package IMO. great jab, good defensive skills, fast hands, power and has the ability to fight going back or coming forward.
hes the future of the LHW division.

Saw the fight last night as well, Sillakh certainly looks like someone to watch in the future. I thought he could've KO'd Despaigne early.

Alvarez will beat the far out of Hatton... the undercard fight with Ponce De Leon should be good.

Tonight's card from Anaheim also has James Kirkland's comeback, HW prospect Seth Mitchell, and Daniel Jacobs.

Re: The Official Boxing Thread
Should be easy for Canelo. Matthew Hatton is moving up in weight and he doesn't have that much power to begin with, thinking this goes around 5 or 6 rounds.
PDL is going to be a good test for the young Broner but I think he'll end up being too skilled and fast for Ponce De Leon. We'll see if PDL's power moves up in weight(I think it can) and if he can land that big shot to get the upset.

Ponce DeLeon has become more of a boxer and thus has lost his one punch KO power... He had one of the most scariest KO I have ever seen vs some Thai fighter several years ago

Oh, wow...I'm only a few rounds into the Judah fight, but he's moving beautifully. This is fantastic. He's so damn athletic, with Sweet Pea as his first...I don't know if I've ever seen anyone move this well. The reflexes, the slips...jeez. I'd watch this for 12 if he never threw a punch.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

God, Judah's such an assh*le and he's lost a lot of big fights, but there's only 1-2 other fighters I'd rather watch fight.

Re: The Official Boxing Thread
spoiler of Judah fight:
God, that's two terrible mistakes by refs who didn't keep their eyes on the downed fighter during the 10 count. Mabuza was fuuuuuuuuuucked. He took another 10-12 brutal shots after that KD/count. The ref's now smiling and smirking within the celebration in the ring. What an ass****. Even during the barrage, you can clearly see Mabuza go out from a left but it's another 3-4 clean shots across the chin before the ref can get his ass in between them. What a **** dick.
When he tests Mabuza's gloves he's not even looking in his eyes, he's not even paying attention to the gloves. Mabuza doesn't lift the gloves, he's shocked when Judah's on him seconds later. He's unconscious. WTF is this?

Re: The Official Boxing Thread
Lou Morret, in the Alvarez fight, is almost as (Please Use More Appropriate Word). Right from the first round, he'll call break and just stand still...6 feet from the clinch. You could see Hatton and Alvarez look at each other the first time it happened, expecting him to jump in and pull them apart. And they actually have to make eye contact so they can agree to break, cos the **** ref isn't intervening. They're reffing themselves.
I'm only 6 rounds in and this already become a problem. He didn't physically break the fighters during a clinch, Hatton lands a final shot after teh call, Lou still takes his time jumping in, and Alvarez has time to throw a really punishing shot. WTF? I've never seen a ref verbally call breaks and not actually intervene.

HBO's not going to air that sideshow.
If anyone needed an extra reason to not pay money to see that, Wikileaks:

Well HBO has been shooting themselves on the foot with Arum.
Martinez and Dzwhatever his name is going to be a boring fight. It is a shame that HBO is making Martinez fight him. He is getting 700K for being a no name fighter, with no backing, no wins on US TV except a showbox fight vs a guy that wasn't even top 15 in his division in a higher weight class...
HBO sucks...
I don't like the Cotto fight on PPV but at least it will be fun while it lasts...

Well yeah... I think everyone knows that. It was before the Trindad fight and there was a real risk that it would have been cancelled. Tito killed him and his red hair that night.
