Bingo right there. Sell me on Howard after he plays ten games in a row without getting injured, and is still a good soldier w/o getting his share of stats/shots/attention/etc.. Not that I have evidence that he'll be a major problem, but he's only played 14 games in 3 separate stints.
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

With the Dallas Mavericks in town, Josh Howard wanted to be on the floor at the finish, but he asked out when he started feeling some soreness in his left knee. And since you know he had a year of pent up emotion, Howard must've been in some serious pain because adrenaline couldn't even push him along

And some on the board still want to bring back Howard next year.

Howard's nickname ought to be "Glass Joe". I hear he plays with a glass knee.

I feel bad for him but it is what it is. He cannot stay healthy. This was a trend even before he got to DC. I wouldn't even consider resigning him under any circumstances. I'd rather a hungry NBDL type with good knees than a broken down Howard who can't stay on the court more than five games before wincing in pain and asking out.

With Lewi$ on board for the foreseeable future there is absolutely no reason to bring Howard back. He's simply taking up a roster spot at this point that (as Dat pointed out) could be much better used on a prospect.

Howard should be ready for next game.

Goal to finish the season.

Howard said he has made it goal to finish out the season, even if he has to adhere to minutes restrictions. "Just as far as minutes, I guess I have to watch them, and like I've said, just show the team, like I've already shown it, that I want to be here. I just got to stay healthy and get out there."

Still sounding like he wants to come back. Should be interesting to see what kind of contract he wants.

You can't be serious, Howard collected $ 3 million to rehab (or attempt to rehab) and travel with the Wizards, he played a few games. You are wondering how-much money he wants??????? Maybe he'll be able to get the vet minimum next year, maybe.....and NOT from the Wizards.

What are you even talking about ? Stop overreacting over nothing. I can't be serious.

I didn't even say anything serious so I guess you could be right that far.

I posted and article and a excerpt from it.

Then said, "Still sounding like he wants to come back. Should be interesting to see what kind of contract he wants. "

Yeah, I seriously had the gull to to make that amazingly extreme statement saying it should be interesting to see what kind of contract he wants.

How in any way could have have had an issue with that? I didn't even take a position. I just said it still sounds like he wants to come back and then said it should be interesting to know how much he would be looking for.

An appropriate ending to this thread, per the wire article, Josh Howard is out for the remainder of the season. Something to think about for those-peeps giddy to re-up Ernie.

I was under the assumption the choice was to allow him to complete the remaining year of his contract--not to give him a new one.

We gave him a new one, actually. There was a team option for something like $12 million on his previous Mavs contract which we didn't pick up, but then we gave him a base around $3 million with possible incentives for $1 million or so more. The incentives were based on his wardrobe choices during games while out, so he made those, unfortunately. OK, I just made that last part up.

I thought closg00 was saying Ernie blundered with Howard and we shouldn't be giddy to re-up Ernie.

I am assuming Howard will not be resigned but that Ernie will be back next season because IIRC he's still under contract.

I understood it the same as you and was just laying out the base of the objection, which was the new $3 million dollar deal. It would be hard to defend that or the Yi acquisition in comparison with other potential uses of the cap space (like another BOYD with Miami, for example).
