Mean-spirited of me, I know... and maybe I'm just mad at the way the game just ended.
But, now that we can't trade him, and considering that he wants a new deal: is he throwing teamwork out the window and going for his own profit? Is he only caring about getting teams interested in him for next year?
He's got to be the worst passing PG I've ever seen. He refuses to give the ball up, unless he has to.

Is Jamal auditioning for his NEXT job?
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Crawford almost never passes unless it will directly lead to an assist. He's been a gunner his whole career...last year was just the 1st time he maintained solid efficient over the course of a full season.

Crawford is going back to New York next year to win his ring, and will sign a MLE or lower contract to do so since he doesn't know how much juice he can provide consistently and turn into another Bibby. Well that's just my assumption if he believes the Hawks can't get it for him.

Re: Is Jamal auditioning for his NEXT job?
Could we have traded him before the deadline for a big? Kaman, for example?
I don't know, but we'd better fix this. Having him kill ball movement every game is depressing. How can Drew tout his motion offense and then employ a PG who destroys the scheme? PG is the leader of the offense, for crying out loud. For awhile I thought Drew was trying to turn Crawford into a PG but this is not working.
I could see letting Crawford play this game with the 2nd team, surrounded by bench players who focus on defense while letting Jamal take all the shots.

Last 12 games, he's hitting 37.5% from the floor, 31.7% from 3, with only 2.6 assists/game.
It ain't working. As poor a shooter as Teague is, he's still been shooting better than Jamal for the past month.

To be honest, I don't think the ASG ever seriously considered trading Jamal because he's contract expiring is part of their financial plan.
I noticed Crawford wasn't working out at PG prior to the trade. After Teague got some run in a couple games I hoped that Crawford would only be used a 2 guard, but boy was I wrong. He was actually playing PG with Kirk at SG and Joe at SF for a good portion of the game. I appreciate that Jamal can create his own shot, but when you make him your primary ball handler you are handcuffing the rest of the lineup. I don't think it is Jamal auditioning, but rather Jamal just playing his game.

I think you're right but, if true, we missed a chance to cash in on his value. Sticking with Kaman, just for show, we could have traded Jamal and Zaza to LA for him and saved about $3 million in the process. We would have stayed under the LT for next year while having an offensive boost this year.

Decent idea, but not sure they wanted Zaza's multiple year contract coming back. Their desire to move Kaman seemed predicated on getting value for him while freeing up space to upgrade elsewhere. Considering where the Clippers are right now, I think they would have passed on that offer thinking they could get more for Kaman on draft night.

Man we missed the chance to rid ourselves of Marvin and Zaza.I hear from a few Clipper fans, that they would have taken Marvin,Zaza, a 2nd, & 3 mill for Kaman and Gomes. Maybe that was being discussed when Zaza sat out that game.

But we wouldn't have saved money. We will have to either shave salary off somewhere else or let Jamal walk. I have no problem letting him walk, especially the way he's killing our offense, but I'd like to get value back. By trading Jamal and Zaza for Kaman, we'd have saved about $3 million (not counting the $3 million you mentioned). By trading Marvelous and Zaza, we still lose Jamal.

Same complication: we would have gone over the LT.
