I understand this isn't really the place, but let me say this:

I like Aldridge a lot. In fact he's the guy I'm going to vote next for, but I don't get how you can say his trade value is higher than Horford's.

Hoford is a year younger and on a cheaper contract (5/60 vs. 4/56). He's the better defender, better rebounder, better passer, more efficient on offense and on top of all that he's forced to play most of his minutes out of position.

..what's with all the love for Love? He doesn't play defense and isn't a great scorer..

I would also vote Horford before I'd vote Aldridge. Efficiency matters people. Horford and Love are around 60 True Shooting, not to mention better rebounders and younger. Aldridge is merely a nice story. Still the worst rebounder, and his scoring efficiency is only .549 TS%.

Why? I'll use the Chuck Hayes barometer. When the Rockets played the Wolves, the hawks, and the Blazers, the Rockets didn't double team Love, or Horford. They chose to double team Aldridge the moment he put the ball on the floor.

Aldridge is a bigger offensive threat than Love or Horford now that he's putting it all together. He's longer than both of them and i just think he has a higher ceiling.

If efficiency matters as much as you think, someone like Kevin Martin would go in the top 15. But he hasnt even been nominated yet but likely wont make the top 25. I think in these kind of discussion youth, athleticism, length, contract situation, offensive role, overall ability(including defense) and the dreaded "potential" matter more than efficiency.

We double teamed Aldridge for about three quarters. Adelman said it was mainly because he didn't want Chuck to get in (early) foul trouble and that he wasn't really worried about other guys beating us, though I'd argue that the Blazers struggles two days earlier against the double teaming of the Hawks had something to do as well.

And then again, Horford is younger, cheaper, more efficient and virtually better at everything else and it's not like Aldridge was this great scorer before Roy went down either.

Horford isn't as gifter as a scorer, but it's also a question of opportunity.

Kevin Martin doesn't play a lick defense though. If he did, he'd probably be in the top15.

Yes and Adelman didn't have to worry about chuck hayes getting foul trouble against Horford or Love because those guys aren't true back to the basket post up options. They're more put back, garbage man type opportunity scorers, hence the disparity in TS%. Aldridge can get you point in the paint as a first option. That my friend is the difference between Love/Horford and Aldridge right now.

Aldridge just has a very impressive arsenal of moves in his disposal both facing the basket and posting up. In that regard, he reminds me of Pau Gasol.

Maybe Horford has that ability as well. Maybe he just needs an opportnity like Aldridge. But i haven't seen it. Aldridge has proven that he can in fact carry a team as the first option.(not a huge sample size but its still better than nothing)
