Eric Gordon Injury Update

Post#1 » by thanumba2clippersfan » Mon Mar 7, 2011 4:26 am

So much for getting to see the complete and healthy Clippers roster for an extended look.

That vision lasted, oh, a game and one-plus quarter.

(Nice team, by the way.)

Chances for a decent, late-season evaluation period evaporated when shooting guard Eric Gordon clattered to the court, victim of a hard foul from Denver center Timofey Mozgov in the second quarter of the Clippers' 106-103 victory over the Nuggets on Saturday night.

Gordon, the Clippers' leading scorer, landed hard and re-aggravated his injured right wrist and did not return. There was no flagrant foul called on the play. Although X-rays were negative, he did not travel with the Clippers to Charlotte on Sunday. They begin a five-game trip against the Bobcats on Monday night, finishing at Memphis on March 14.

Early indications are that Gordon could be out seven to 10 days.

However, the first time he injured the wrist, Gordon was out for a substantial stretch. He missed 18 games and nearly six weeks until returning Wednesday against Houston. Gordon sprained his right wrist against the Golden State Warriors on Jan. 22 and was also found to have a small bone chip fracture.

The development will mean increased playing time on the trip for rookie reserve guard Eric Bledsoe, who figured to be the odd man out following the recent acquisition of point guard Mo Williams and the return of Gordon. He played just under eight minutes against the Rockets and went scoreless.

After Gordon left the game Saturday, Bledsoe played one of his best games as a Clipper with a career-high 20 points in 22-plus minutes of action, scoring 15 points in the fourth quarter. His previous high was 18 points against Detroit on Nov. 12.

Gordon will be could be out for about a week and he didn't leave with the team on the road trip.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Hopefully he can re-join the team on the road trip if he feels better. Either way, it's good to hear it won't be a prolonged absence.

Maybe a Tony Parker-esque come back?

7-10 days is not too bad. A lot of people were worried that it would be season-ending. This timetable will have him missing about 5 games or so. I hope that he's able to return sooner than later and that we'll have a healthy roster to finish out the season.

Sadly, that doesn't typically happen with us :(

I hope he doesn't rush back again. He doesn't need to risk getting a serious re-injury at this point in the season.

If we're being honest here...at this point, we're just playing for pride, and to improve our young players and our new additions. The guy should take as much time as he can - We will lose more games, no doubt, but that's just how it is.

Eric Gordon is still a young, developing player. Every minute of gameplay he can get will help both him and the Clippers in the long run. If he can play he should play.

This is a hand injury too, which often isn't as serious as a knee or leg. You don't need to worry about him re-injuring because he's out of shape.

Tuesday is when Gordon will be re-evaluated.

We've actually been winning again since he's been out so I think Gordon should just take the time to rest. He should come back when he feels healthy.

Gordon says there was hardly any swelling around that wrist and he's feeling good. He'll be wearing a brace the rest of the way.

He should be back on Saturday to go up against Baron Davis and the Cavs. His face lit up when told he'd be playing against BD.
