that is true, we need to show that as a small market our players are like our family & rewarding a guy like crash with being our first retired number for being our "Franchise" guy is just reward for his years of service. He is the closest thing to a superstar that we have had(which is sad actually)

I feel ya on this. Doing that would show we value hard work over talent (not that crash isn't talented, top 5 SF last year!).

I agree that crash was a top 5 SF last year but it was most definitely his effort over the course of his Bobcat career which earned him praise. I believe that to make us a viable free agent destination we need to show the L that we appreciate our players whether they are superstars or not(in our case or not) We should target players that are underappreciated or underutilised by their current organisations & make them an important part of our future!! having a reputation as a players club will quite possibly be the only way to attract top-tier FA's. Retiring crash's number is a great start!!

How about instead of making grossly unsubstantiated claims about entirely unrelated entities, we posit our opinions in a coherent manner in which we address at least a couple key areas that have affected our thoughts?

I'm sure he heard all of the trade rumors, particularly with Portland, but I guess he was told just that morning, like 2 hours earlier that he wasn't going to be traded. I think he understands the business, but when your boss says you're going no where, then 2 hours later your wife wakes you to tell you you're going to Portland, I can understand his feeling. Hey, if his wife had to wake him to tell him he was traded, maybe he dreamt the big bossman telling him just that morning that he wasn't going to be traded instead of it actually happening!

I'm thinking he was told he wasn't going to be traded while under inception. Then inside that inception, the Bobcats were on their way to dominating the league. However, after the team bus fell off a bridge for 45 minutes, he woke up into reality and was traded for two draft picks and an expiring contract.

That's my theory.

If he didn't want to be traded, then maybe he should have expanded his game past stumbling to the hoop and shooting poorly from the perimeter. Crash was just a shell of his self from a year ago, even after he started getting into game shape from that injury. He just seemed too complacent with his level of aggressiveness.
