How can the league let things like this go unnoticed?

Nice find.

The worst game I've ever seen in this regard was the Suns/Knicks triple overtime game in 2006.

The Suns lost that game 133-140:

-The Suns made nine more threes than the Knicks
-The Suns made one more basket overall than the Knicks
-The Suns shot 16 free throws compared to the Knicks 54

-Walt Frazier (Knicks game color-commentator) actually started throwing the term "phantom fouls" around after some pretty blatant miscalls against the Suns.

Truehoop later published an interview with an NBA gambler, who had this to say about the game:

"I can say with a large degree of certainty that this game was one of the more blatant fixes. That Phoenix vs. New York game was a game that I was told was bet by the crew associated with [alleged Donaghy co-conspirator James "Baa Baa"] Batista, it was also a game where Phoenix shot 14 free throws in regulation and New York shot 36."

"There aren't that many games in the last five or six years where a team had a 20 point free throw edge. In a sample of 6,373 games I show there being 167 games where the home team shot 20 more free throws than the visiting team, and 78 where the visiting team shot more. I hate trotting out numbers to prove my point because you can cherry-pick whatever statistics you want, but I think if someone with an objective eye goes and watches this game, focusing on Donaghy especially they'll come away thinking that it was pretty clear the Knicks got a huge advantage in the game."

Is the NBA rigged? I hope not. But there are games such as last night's or games like the one I posted above that make me wonder sometimes if referees purposefully manufacture momentum for a certain team on some nights.

I've known this for years. I'm a fan of all sports and no team I follow has been constantly screwed over as much as the Suns have.

They need to fire the entire ref crew from last night they where awful and David Stern should be ashamed but he is not because that's exactly what he wanted since OKC is an average team without help from the refs they Benefit from what Micheal Jordon told David Stern not to do create star players or trying to create and equal to MJ himself. Stern doesn't care about such things only about the bottom line so he probably was thinking **** you Jordan I will do whatever the **** I want ! hOW can that fat turd the NBA owners like to call their owner be so against TIm Donaghy when the douche-bag himself is using the refs to create super stars which means games where its beyond obvious that the refs have an agenda. David Stern is no better tim Donaghy they are both giant Douche-bags. They would have lost that game for sure without the refs calling all those fouls its ridiculous.

Not surprised. That was how bad the officiating was in the game.

Disgusting that it happens to us. I dont blame OKC because it's not their fault, but the game was hopelessly refereed.

This guy should be sitting in jail, getting hair cut tips from Joey Crawford from the cell next door.

All over the world, officials are a kind of "mafia". Extremally well organized, no talks outside, judging before the game started, looking for their own good etc. That's true. True.

All the refs wants drink from a money-source, from any league. Soccer, bball... But they don't want to drink naturally, with contracts only.

They are in relations. With players, coaches, FOfficers, agents. They are creating the reality. It's money and not the game for them. I suppose that even the greatests of them are not clear.

Any official who is out of the circle, will have nothing but crap. You want to go inside, you want to be in the superior division (NBA, Euroleague, etc) - you must become a "member".

If somebody wants break the circle - the only way is end of career.

Nobody is really interested in changing this. Until the whole league is closed beacouse crowd is not interested in this business...

OK. But wait, it's no problem. Refs will rebuild a new league with new owners. Yes, they will. Believe me. After Stern retires, next man in charge will be ex-ref. 1000%. You'll see.

Officials are the true cancer of any sport. Sometimes I think refs must work for free, young guys, not blazed, just for the good of the game. But it's utopia.
