Carmelo has more moves he can do, but does it really matter how you score? LeBron scores at a higher volume and better efficiency.

the better scorer...is the guy who has always scored more points. a better question might be who has a better offensive repertoire.

Pretty much.
For how much praise Melo gets for his "complete" set of scoring tools, LeBron kills him in efficiency and has historically scored in a higher volume than Melo(three seasons with PPG higher than Melo's carer high).
Don't get it.

Carmelo has more ways to score, but without a doubt LeBron is the better scorer.

I'd say Melo is a better scorer just beacuse Lebron just doesn't care as much

Melo is certainly the more versatile scorer with the array of moves he has at his arsenal, but Lebron has been more efficient/higher volume scorer due to the fact that he's just that good at driving into the lane, finishing, and drawing contact.
However might be OT, but being a more versatile scorer certainly helps in close games when things go down to the wire and need a bucket.

LeBron's a much better offensive player. But for just pure scoring, I'd take Melo. In a close game where points are hard to come by, you'd be better off with a great halfcourt scorer like Melo. Every team needs a player like that. That's why I don't think Miami can win the chip. They don't have a reliable halfcourt scorer. In the playoffs when teams really focus in on you defensively, you need that guy that you can just throw the ball to for buckets in a halfcourt set. Really, if you watch the Miami games, Bosh is that guy for their team (or at least he's supposed to be) because he at least has some semblance of a post game.

Execpt Lebron has been the best closer in the NBA the past few years and has always played on slow half-court oriented teams...

Yeah, stat-padding against bad teams. In the playoffs I've seen him go maybe...7 straight offensive possessions where he couldn't get the team a bucket. It's either a turnover or a bad shot attempt. What's their record this season in close games? 1-7 or something like that?

I'm not saying Melo is better than Lebron, but you really shouldn't only look at stats when you are comparing players. Compare Melo to Kevin Martin for example. Martin scores at a higher volume (he's higher in pts per minute) and he is much higher in TS%, but is he a better scorer? I think it's safe to say Melo is a better scorer than Martin despite what stats say.

I don't know about that. Martin's efficiency is fantastic, and he's averaging about 23 points per game. He gets to the line a lot, and he's a great 3pt shooter. I'd say he's a better scorer than Melo, at least this season.
Melo has always been an overrated scorer. People are so taken aback by his arsenal of offensive moves that they overlook that he's not a super-efficient scorer. He's had multiple sub .540 TS% seasons. He's been sub .550 the last couple of years. His career TS% is .544. .544 TS% is good, don't get me wrong, but people (by people I mean the general public/ESPN) have this perception that he's on Wade/LeBron's level, and that he's one of the best scorers in the league. When you compare Melo's efficiency to Wade/LeBron's efficiency, Melo's pales in comparison.

Re: Carmelo Anthony vs. Lebron James (Scoring)
Martin is my favorite player, but he's not a better scorer than Melo. You have to look at the degree of difficulty on Melo's shots compared to Martin's, the way opponents defend each player, and their ability to win games for their respective teams. Melo is much better at creating for himself in the post and on the perimeter. He's also better at driving and converting around the rim. Martin is better at cutting and moving without the ball, but he's a complementary player and he doesn't take over games. Stats won't show those things.

If Melo has such a high degree of difficulty on his shots, maybe he should take easier shots.
Hey, Kevin Durant takes stupid pull up contested 3's! Obviously this makes him a great shooter!

I'm sure you'll see his shot selection improve as a Knick. I don't have a problem with him taking bad shots from time to time because he's obviously good at making them.
