Your work has caused me to change my view on the subject. Before I had seen a 'last shottish' breakdown, I had been in the camp that LeBron should be the guy (not just on the Heat, but in the league) who'd be most likely to score on a last shot, given his "clutch stats" over the last 4 years according to 82games.com's definition.
Now, however, I think LeBron's the best guy for all of clutch time up until last shot time, at which point somebody else needs to shoot instead.
Here's an interesting point: LeBron generally dominates the "clutch stats" at 82games.com despite his abysmal last shot stats, meaning that LeBron must be extra super dominant during the clutch time leading up to the last shot.
I like this point haha.
I remember during the Bulls game, in the 4th, Lebron was part of the last 4 shots. Making 2 shots and then assisting on the 2 for Mario Chalmers. All before Mike Miller fouled Luol and Lebron took a horrible left handed shot to try and win.
Last second shot is such a relative stat because 2 points before the 24 second less thresh hold is still 2 points.
If this is supposed to be a stab at Miami and Lebron, maybe the question everyone is avoiding is why is Miami putting themselves in this many late game situations. Theyve taken the most shots by far in that "selected clutch" time frame, and for a team with the "big 3", they should be blowing teams out.
