I don't know if Westphal is the right coach for this or any team. I certainly don't think he's likely the long term answer. But his history with problem players doesn't compare to Cousins' history with coaches. I also don't think there is really sound evidence that he has handled Cousins poorly this year.

Getting Cousins to take total ownership of his mistakes, however, is a big part of the overall solution. And after watching him play as much as I have this season, I believe the young man wants to hear the truth, even if it's harsh."

Yeah, seriously. There's no way the Maloofs would have ever hired a weird guy like him, since they were so worried about the coach being a figurehead. Too bad this weirdo is a fantastic basketball coach.

Kings also went cheap and listened heavily to their boys Nellie and Geoff Petrie. They were only willing to give out a certain guarantee and that turned off a lot of prospective coaches I think. Pretty sure Rambis even backed out right? Anyway, their only mistake was jumping the gun and locking him into that 3rd year before the 2nd had even started, which apparently, was Petries call so....
