Coach K has said on multiple occasions that he wants to remain at Duke, so he's a no go.

People around the league feel that Sloan is done coaching.

Meh, I'd like us to see who would be available during the offseason before we just declare Shaw our head coach. I'd like us to at least interview Person. I'm not opposed to a new offense and Kobe should be able to pick up on it. Gasol is basically a brain surgeon so he'll get it no doubt. Hopefully Phil is either A.) Done with the league or B.) Takes a long hiatus from the game, because it just wouldn't feel right with him being the HC for another team next season.

Don't the GM and Owner always pick the coach no matter what team we're talking about? who the heck else would pick the coach, Luke Walton? I guess a case can be made for Kobe

Coach K isn't going to happen. It will be Shaw running the triangle at least till Kobe retires. Shaw will do a fine job.

If phil leaves, its full crisis mode.
What other coach can actually handle Kobe and the gang, and to get someone Kobe actually respects and will listen to!
tough, kobe barely listens to phil now. if not the best coach ever then who else????

I would have to disagree with you LAKESHOW just in Lakers history after RIley left the Lakers made it back to the finals the next season with Dunleavy as coach so i would give Shaw if he is the guy a good chance to succeed.

You may be right but if we win the title this year there's NO WAY IN HELL we bring a coach that doesn't know the system/players, etc. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", you know?

Now if we don't do well in the playoffs then we'll need an experienced/respected coach...

Since I believe we'll win it all again then Buss wont bring an outside coach. Whoever chosen is already inside the Lakers group...

Very surprised no one mentioned Rick Adelman, Rockets are not committing to him yet, any older fans know he gets the most out of his players, (Blazers-Kings-Rockets) all exceled big time!

Hell ,Kobe can still hog the ball in any offense, they don't need no stinkin' triangle anymore and Shaw does not know it as well as Phil anyway...

KingLakers wrote:The Lakers front office will probably give a call to Coach K and Sloan but I think in the end because this is a vet team and could be 3 time defending champs when this decision is made they will probably pick Shaw because he will keep the same system and looking at the Lakers payroll they dont get out of many of their current contracts until 2013 so their won't be much roster turnover for the next couple seasons. Unless after next season the Lakers buyout Odom and Bynum and the Fisher and Artest opt out of their contracts.

I'm in the corner of Shaw becoming the next coach but with Sloan now out there the front office does have to take a hard look at him. He is a great coach.

Damn I forgot all about him. I think he's worth a try,if he can propel a Yao-less Rockets into the playoffs he can do wonders for us.

Anyone want Kurt Rambis :dontknow:
Per WT:
Sources say there is significant push from within the organization to replace Kurt Rambis as head coach of the Wolves.

Kelvin Sampson, currently an assistant with the Bucks, is atop their wish list. The front office believes Minnesota's young roster may need a more energetic coach.

Sampson was most recently a head coach with the Indiana Hoosiers.

Brian Shaw would be a bad fit for HC of the Lakers. Quite frankly, he hasn't proved anything and just doesn't seem like the right type I think the front office should and probably will make a push for Adelman, there will not be a better coach available than Adelman this offseason. He has expressed a couple times this season that he is very keen on winning and there isn't a better team to achieve that on than the Lakers.
