This is a very old video but it has to be cool to have video that his prediction was correct and then get the man he was giving props to as a teammate. Life can't be sweeter for Walker whenever people see this clip. The older it gets and Carmelo doing damage he's immortalized as a profit in wich profits us.

AiC one of my favorite bands ever. Better than Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden IMO. Their new album was actually very good despite no Layne or Starr.

I watched this expecting to hear something egregious but honestly I didn't think it was that bad. To start the highlight on a negative note of "the knicks had a big lead and almost blew it" was unnecessary but after that I had virtually no problem. He did spaz on how well Zach played and almost missed Melo's game winning shot but he got to it in time not to anger me. He also ended it on a positive talking about this is the most wins the Knicks have had in 7 years. I aint even mad!

To the extent that negative coverage could affect the public perception of the Knicks and make the team less attractive to NBA free agents, their agents, and trade targets -- it does sort of matter. I'd just like to see more factual critique's of ESPN's negativity -- like the one earlier in the thread comparing the different headlines. I don't think it's necessarily ESPN's agenda to crap on us, since the Knicks are good for ratings and everything. It's more individual analysts' distaste for the Knicks, NYC, and their fanbase for whatever asinine reasons.

Exactly. It's not the worst thing in the world. But out of nearly 20 headlines I found on the web, ESPN was the ONLY one that didn't lead with Carmelo's gamewinner. It was a bizarre way to lead a news story, and no other outlet did it, including the local Memphis media. Everybody led with Carmelo's shot. ESPN chose to lead with "Knicks avoid collapse," and then followed it up by emphasizing Zach's 200th Double-Double during the actual gamewinner (which they never actually called a gamewinner).

Is it the biggest deal? Absolutely not. Is it worth noting as Knick fans? Abso-effing-lutely. We -- meaning the people on this board -- are exactly ESPN's target demographic. And it doesn't take an Einstein to realize that we all consume enough of their ubiquitous coverage. We have every right to point out and discuss a strange and arguably disrespectful production choice. Especially when there's so much recent history of Knick bashing.

I lived in Olympia and Seattle in 1989, the year before Nirvana went national. I had a nice, cheap apartment in a neighborhood called Capitol Hill near downtown Seattle. I went to the Sub Pop parties and met many of the people at parties and clubs and it was quite a little scene that was still largely unknown, but about to explode.

And I can tell you this: there were a lot of young white punks on dope in the Northwest at the time. I'd look across the street and see a young rocker couple on their patio nodding off on their loungers. I was pretty amazed at how easily so many of them slipped into heroin use.

It was a much bigger percentage of the people there than say in NYC where punks may drink or smoke or a few were straight edge, but the needle was far more common out West.

Something about that overcast weather. Drinks lots of coffee. Huddle in damp garages with electric guitars. Needles.

What was interesting about Seattle at the time was that locally Alice in Chain was not as respected as other bands like Soundgarden which was already an established band. Pearl Jam had not broken yet, but even they were not really respected. And Nirvana was not that big even locally. People knew who they were, but Bleach was not that great of a record. Nevermind was a total transformation for that band and few saw it coming, even in the NW. Bigger bands on the local scene at that time were ones like Mudhoney or Love Battery and Mother Love Bone (lead singer OD'd when I was there). And there were tons of garagey bands. I remember a bunch of guys who wrapped themselves in gauze and played as the Mummies. People were playing for each other. The fame and fortune was only a glimmer and Sub Pop was really the local godfathers, but nobody had hit the big time. Alice in Chains were even dismissed by some as a hair band which was stupid, but mostly as some kind of 80s oriented metal act and though it was 1989, the 80s were long over in Seattle. There was a much smaller audience for them there, but you are right they were much better than pretty much all the other bands. Most of the music sounds very dated already. I always thought Pearl Jam mostly sucked. And Nirvana is not something I reach for though Nevermind was insanely great when it came out.

Yeah, I was trying to find that out too. This thing looks like it really could be all of that. Take Mortal Kombat and put it as close to the real world as it could possibly go. The issue though is how do you translate a fighting game/tournament plot style and make it a movie. The only time I've really enjoyed a fighting game/movie storyline was the Street Fighter Anime. Also, with so many compelling characters it's tough to put together all the stories and translate all the characters properly...which leads to unhappy fans. I'm hoping they figure it all out too. Do you still have that short movie? lol, that could be an interesting read since I'm an English Major and woulda minored in creative writing if my school had offered it.

nah I wish I did man my computer crashed and I lost everything and didn't have backup files...last time that will ever happen...But i feel they can pull it over I know they will want to do the tournament where they fight eachother..I mean the first MK Movie was ok but the others were horrible and I think they can come up with a cool concept...Mortal Kombat was never a comic book right it was just a video ggames adaption>??
