Suggestion: Interactive Gamethreads

Post#1 » by BBALLER4FR » Thu Mar 10, 2011 6:22 pm

Here's and idea. Can we make templates where the user can enter the game thread and hover over the player to get stats using the new RealGM stats pages? Something like this...

Image

PG : Image

Notes: Douglas becomes the Teacher, Not the Student

---------

SG : Image

Notes: Landry has gig lined up if NBA does not work out

---------

SF : Image

Notes: Melo So Clutch Monroe Says: TAKE MY NUMBER!!!

---------

PF : Image

Notes: Amare Says Move the DAMNED BALL!!

---------

C: Image

Notes: Jeffries Finds New Face With Old Knicks

The game thread creator can customize the look by

1. changing pictures --- replace the image location between the
2. changing what information page the image links to --- replace the location in the
3. add any other information/pics/links --- append

Here is a sample template for the Gamethreads:

Green = insert desired team page
Red = insert desired team .jpg or .png location
Blue = insert player info page
Teal = insert player .jpg or png location

Knicks:

PG :
---------

SG :
---------

SF :
---------

PF :
---------

C :
---------

C'MON! Let's DO THIS!!!!

Of course it works. I just demonstrated above. It's a perfect way for RealGM to show off it's muscle. All we need is for a Mod to sticky the template and let the brave gamethread posters go nutz. Should be fun!!

knicks742: What? I think it's a good idea to let the thread starter get really creative. Why so salty? :D

Great idea. Should still be room for each GT creator to add his own flavor to it, though. Like, lucky charm of the game, and whatever else funny thing they can come up with.

I always like it too when the GT title has that day and time of the game, as well as the records of the teams involved.

Yeah I favor giving users this template as an option for creating game threads. It would be a great way to promote RealGM's new statistical database which is VERY deep and intense.

PM Dream34 and link him to this Thread.

He might be able to do something. :)

Here's what you do:

1) User clicks on "New Topic"

2) Similar to the "Font Colour" button, have a "Game Thread" button that opens up a hidden panel with 2 drop down boxes populated (one Home team and one away team) with all of the NBA teams and a "Create" button.

3) Once the "Create" button is clicked (and the validation code confirms 2 different teams were selected) code similar to my original post is generated in the text box.

The user can populate the subject box as they wish and since the Submit button is never pushed and the thread creator can see all of the code, they can modify it as they please. Mods can also solicit some of the better gamethread creators, such as mavsfoty (example here), to create jpg's for global teams pics. It'll more of an intermediate method to creating gamethreads but we've seen some really creative posters come up with some slick gamethreads with nothing but white space. Besides, if they don't feel comfortable with it they can always create it from scratch as they currently do. Just my .02 :D

But the user can still get super creative. They can either choose to not use this template or modify it. The template is just to make it easier for newbies, and quicker for skilled RealGM. WINNING!

Let's have BBALLER4FR create the next game thread using his template.

We will watch it as a test case and go from there.
