I really, really wanted Iggy or Granger when we had Deron but now that we are rebuilding....not so much.

I rather pursue them in the draft, it's nearly impossible to get a young up and coming SG or SF in free agency and we don't really have any trade pieces outside of Millsap and it doesn't feel like any of us or the organization wants to get rid of him (yet).

Last night's Shooting Guard statline:

2-11, 5 points, 3 turnovers, 4 assists.

I think we have an obvious problem at Shooting Guard.

So I'm curious why parting with one of our 3 power forwards to address this glaring hole in the ship would be a bad idea.....anyone care to enlighten me?

Jazz should've gone after Courtney Lee at the trade deadline.

I'm all for trading Millsap for a border line allstar / allstar SG. The Jazz then use the pick on Harrison Barnes and have a great young line up. They make the playoffs next yr and all is good in Jazz land again... Millsap doesn't win games for you, (one in Miami thats it) most bigs don't. We need a GREAT 2 With skills. This has been the biggest weakness with the Jazz for ever, people say a shot blocker is but truly its been that all our SG's have sucked!

Bigs are very hard to come by, especially ones that are tough and consistent.

Jefferson, Millsap, and Favors should all be off the table.

I just read an article by another Jazz blogger that said Jefferson was an asset for a trade. What? I guess some fans and bloggers really want the Jazz to be a rebuilding team.

Okur is the one big the Jazz could afford to trade but probably won't be able to because of his salary.

If Tomic can be brought over from Real Madrid, or if by some lucky chance Marcus Cousin turns out to be an NBA quality big with defensive ability, then the Jazz can use their likely 2 draft choices for an SG or SF that can be converted to an SG.

If either of those bigs don't work out, then the Jazz have to look hard at Kanter and whichever SF is left at the 12th spot.

If the Jazz have two picks because of failing to make the playoffs, my picks would be Barnes, if he's there at 6th, and trade the other pick plus ? for an experienced 2 that's not too old.

If Barnes is gone then T Jones from Kentucky looks like a possible swing player but his 3pt shooting ain't good. Barnes would also need to improve his shooting percentage. College players don't work enough on their shooting skills!

I don't see Williams or P Jones being there unless the Jazz draw a lucky ping pong ball.

I have to agree with you for the most part retiredcoach. I however draft Barnes with every pick but the first. He will be that good.

Apparently the deal at the trade deadline that didn't end up going through was Millsap for Robin Lopez/Mikael Pietrus. I would hope the Jazz would get more in return.

Yeah I don't like that deal. I'd rather have Millsap. I'm sure that's what the Jazz thought, too.

If we could have gotten their pick this year our of it I would have done it, but we would have been in full blown rebuilding mode.

I think retiredcoach nailed it when he said that Millsap, Jefferson, and Favors should be off the table. That's a big man rotation that could develop in to a championship type rotation. Jefferson is 26, Millsap is 25 (I think0, and Favors is 19. Give them two or three years to gel and I doubt there's another team with a better front court. Harris is an above average PG but has a below average three point shot. All this team needs is shooters. So go after lots of shooters either in the draft, trades, or free agency.
