Nets becoming interesting to players
Since getting Deron Williams how many players have expressed at least a little interest in the direction of our team?
I saw David West (who I believe was specifically asked about the Nets)
Zach Randolph
and Brandon Wright, who admittedly is already on the team. But just barely.
None of them are named Dwight Howard, but it's nice to actually start seeing things like this.

Wake me up when Nene or Tyson Chandler say they want to come here.

I'll talk to Tyson Chandler over the off-season. He lives right by me where he comes for a couple weeks during the off-season, I know his step-brother. Billy King better hire me...

Only if you can get him for a discount. Although honestly, I'm not sure Tyson is much of an upgrade from Hump that he warrants more money than Kris. I've always liked Kris (even back to his Jazz and Raptor days). I just didn't like the chucking. If he can keep that under-control (or improve on it to be a Ho Grant/Haslem type mid-range shooter), I'd bring him back without batting an eye.
If I'm bringing another big (as well as retaining Hump for backup duty), I want someone who can do something that Hump can't do.

Tyson scares me. He's missed a lot of games in his career and although he is a very good defensive presence, he offers a very limited offensive game.
Honestly I'm starting to feel like there's no doubt Humphries will be back on this team and I would be very surprised if the deal is anything less then 3 years 15 MM. Not sure Chandler is the best player to compliment Hump in that situation unless he's on a discount.

^^^^^^You know that is a interesting point that makes a lot of sense. If you are going to keep Hump, you will need a different type of player to augment the PF position. Hump cannot make the 10 Ft shot when he is open, maybe a summer can help him to improve but he cant do it at the moment.
I believe Nene can make that shot on a consistent basis which makes him flexible to being either a back up center when Lopez is out the game or the staring PF when he is in.
I think Nene is a better fix than Chandler in my opinion because he doesnt have the flexibility. I will really be excited if he is interested in joining our team.

Nene definitely fits best in terms of what this team needs. A 3 man rotation at both PF and C between Hump/Nene/Brook would be an ideal combination of inside toughness and skill. Would be great if we could add a super athletic type in the draft who can play above the rim and maybe develop behind those 3.

Re: Nets becoming interesting to players
Kris Humphries is nice and I wouldn't mind him back under the right circumstances, but Tyson Chandler blows him out of the water and if you think otherwise you're strictly box score watching.
The only thing that scares me about Chandler is his injury concerns, but honestly, Kris Humphries contract year play scares me almost as much.
Chandler would be the almost picture perfect fit next to Brook.
His defense is absolutely game changing, he has the heart, drive and passion, he can hit his free throws and gets there a ton compared to his minutes and he's beginning to be able to hit short jumpers, plus he's a beast in the pick and roll.
Besides Brook, he's a great fit with Deron.
I really like Nene, but I would take Chandler over him if it wasn't for injury concerns.
Matter of fact, if it wasn't for injury concerns, I dare say Chandler would get a deal like Boozer's, his minutes would be in the 30's and he would probably be a 15/12/2 guy.
If you can get him on a 6 year deal for about $53 million, yes that deal is a lot of years, but the first couple years don't clog the cap cause that would start at about 7.2 and he'll be productive for at least the first 4 years.
I'm sure Cuban will throw some coin at him, but I doubt he goes higher then 5 years and 50 mill guaranteed, so maybe the situation here will attract Chandler.

I agree, based on where we draft,
Short list:
Jones - Baylor
Williams - Arizona
Johnson Purdue

For all of the above is very good reason is why he will stay in Dallas. With the thought that he is also on 50 win team.

Re: Nets becoming interesting to players
I love how Tyson can finish around the basket.
I'm not 100% sold that he's a perfect fit next to Brook though. Neither have a solid mid range game which one offense can seriously clog the paint. I can envision how sick our pick and roll game would be having Tyson and Brook play together though. On Defense, Tyson's presence will only make Brook better too.
This isn't a slight on Tyson and I'd actually be happy to have a rotation of Brook/Tyson/Hump/Rookie PF like Jujuan Johnson or Jordan Williams/Petro's limp corpse.
If we go with the Tyson root, we have to seriously improve our SF position though. If we don't, opposing defenses just need to game plan the pick and roll. Having a SF that can score & play without the ball in his hands will make it much harder to defend. If we add that, I'm actually fine playing Morrow as the starting SG going forward too unless we somehow land someone better (see: OJ Mayo). With Morrow and a guy like Iggy or Granger, defenses will basically just have to pick their poison on each play and hope the other weapon doesn't kill them.

I was just playing, but I did think you posted in the wrong thread, because there isn't a snowball chance in hell Perry Jones or Derrick Williams is available that late.
Derrick Williams is looking like the 2nd or 3rd overall pick this year and Jones is still top 8 and I don't see that changing.

I'm still praying that draft night reveals that we had top-3 protection on our pick, or something like that...

Actually forget what I just posted, I just realized if its top 3 protected then we would keep the pick.....

Not for the draft, hes ineligible to play in the tournament or something but I think its being appealed.
