Well, did you know he used to play football? That's probably why

I couldn't stand him up until after Sloan left. I don't mind him so much anymore. Sure, he's an idiot, but at least he loves the team he's calling for. I wouldn't mind Boone back though, I'd LOVE to see Malone take his spot...

His football background probably has something to do with it, but he manages to circle the most meaningless things. I love it.

"Did you see him hit his leg?" Harpring cirles the entire leg of the athlete, already zoomed in by the camera. I think to myself, "Yes, Matt. Leg. Gold star!"
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

I liked Matt Harpring as a commentator at the beginning of the season. During Nov. and Dec. he made some good comments and had good things to add to the broadcast.

But the last few months I think he has become a clown. I blame Boler most for it. I don't understand why Matt thinks he needs to change his voice to sound like Boler during ads or during the game when he is excited. It sounds too unnatural and stupid. Matt sounds fine using his voice, why does he try to sound like Boler.

I also feel like he has become a little self-absorbed, too focused on himself. Comments like "Ohhh, Jazz fans haven't seen that from a number 15 in a long time" after Favors had the putback dunk vs Boston, and "Some of us know what its like to win a high school championship, I mean me Boler." and "Oh, look at that sign of me in the crowd." Gah, get over yourself.

I think Harpring's actually being self-deprecating with all of that. He wasn't known for his put-back dunks and is teasing himself about his limited athleticism.

Boone was as satisfying as a glass of warm water.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Hahaha, exactly. And I loved the one the other day where he said "oh yeah this team is very good at this they are top in the league...oh...wait...um...they are actually 19th in the league, nevermind. Locke responds "pretty much middle of the pack there" haha.

Running all those patterns really prepared him for the Jazz offense.

Think what you want about him as a commentator, but that man has the all-time record for games played consecutively if you count his ABA-NBA career together and he won an ABA championship. So to think he has no basketball knowledge actually reveals something about you and the knowledge you have, or rather, lack....

Boone is a class act. A man loyal to the state of Utah and to the integrity of basketball, and an all around decent and good human being. I have spent alot of time with him, and spoken to him on a number of occassions.

I wasn't really a fan of Boone and his senility in the waning years of his broadcasting career and I was happy when I heard Harpring was coming aboard. Now, though? I'd easily rather have Boone. Yeah, he regularly mixed up names, lost his train of thought and other stuff of that nature, but there was nothing offensive about him. Honestly, I just thought it was amusing most of the name. I certainly never thought "God dammit! Get this guy off the air right now!", which just so happens to be how I feel about Harpring most of the time.

The guy is f**cking obnoxious, especially in tandem with Bolerjack. If they were funny at all, I wouldn't have much of a problem with how unprofessional they are. Unfortunately, they're not even remotely funny and I feel like punching the TV screen every time I hear about fry sauce, Harpring's bid for rookie of the year, signage or Jazz nation. When they're not wasting time rambling on about their dumb inside jokes like a couple of buffoons, they're not too bad, but they still don't bring all that much to the game. Disappointing, considering that I liked Harpring's work with NBATV last year.

I think Harpring needs to get moved to Assistant Coach. We need someone to teach the team some toughness. It is embarassing to watch them play so soft. The rookies play tougher then our starters.
