Free Agent Wish List

Post#1 » by JohnVancouver » Fri Mar 11, 2011 11:21 pm

It's never too early to look at the upcoming free agents .... dim the lights, light a few candles, put on some slinky jazz and settle in for an evening of rosterbation. Bold represents who i like, whether we can afford them or not. (That high-pitched whistling sound is Frank's pipe spinning at supersonic speed and steam coming out of his ears. And hey! It's our chance to get Marcus Banks back! Maybe that was the first crack in the empire, letting him go ......
From Hoopsworld:

... these players are roughly sorted in value, with the presumed most desirable player at the top of each list. Players who play multiple positions are listed where they play most often.

If Wilson Chandler can play the two I'd like to pick him up (I thought he played the three). Get Boris Diaw and Louis Amundson back. Unsure if Diaw picks up his player option or not. Trade Robin Lopez for cash and a pick, keep Aaron Brooks.
Nash/Brooks
Chandler/Childress
Dudley/Pietrus
Diaw/Warrick
Gortat/Frye

Defensive squad with offensive power.

As I posted a month ago:
1st choice: J.R. Smith.
2nd goal: LMAM, Humphries.
3rd goal is a PG: from the Draft or Patty Mills from FA list.
Offense wins games, Defense wins championships...

Lopez, Dudley, Warrick and 2012 1st for Josh Smith. Give Hill 1 more year and sign J-Rich for MLE. Draft Jujuan Johnson in the 1st round... Frye/Johnson backup Gortat/SMith.

No to Shannon Brown. Last thing we need are female Laker fans continuing to nut over him and everything he does. And I would hate to hear female Suns fans do that.

Afflalo, DeAndre Jordan, Leon Powe, Lou, Kapono, Battier, Azuibuke, Chandler would all be guys I'd be after.

And a thorough **** no to JR Smith.

Bring back Lou, Resign Carter for one more year to the MLE, after buying him out. That totals a 9 million dollar contract for next season only. Vince is getting better. After one good offseason working with the Suns trainers, and getting himself more accumtomed to our team, I have no doubt he can become a very important player for us.

Wait until 2012 when Nash expires, which will clear up more cap room. Then, resign Nash to a lower amount.

The 2012 Free Agent list has much more talent than this years, so pull a "Knick" and time it so that sure our contracts expire next season.

I only have 1 player of my list CHRIS KAMAN. The Clippers are basically giving him away because they want to build around Griffin and Jordan. The Clippers want a SF for him. If they could take J Chill and Lopez for Kaman I'M GOOD.

Nash/Brooks
SG/JD
Hill/MP
Frye/Warrick
Kaman/Gortat

Oh yeah I also like Wilson Chandler but whoever we get at SG I'm good as long as we get Kaman

To get Josh Smith obviously. He would do serious damage here and SMoove/Gortat would just own thy paint. mmhhhhmmm

The players that we should trade or just let go for money or a draft pick:

1) Hakim Warrick
2) Michael Pietris
3) Grant Hill (unless he agrees to play with the money we're giving him now)
4) Robin Lopez
5) buyout Vince
6) Childress

Essential players to sign (by position):

1) Keep Aaron Brooks
If we can't keep Aaron for whatever reason, sign Jose Barea or Ronnie Price. They're quick point guards, defensive, can shoot the three, and have very high basketball IQ.

2) Try to get Jason Richardson back, and if not, then go after Jamaal Crawford or Anthony Parker

3) Go after James Jones. I'd like to see him back on our team

4) Zach Randolph, David West, Jeff Green. We should go after either one of them. Great rebounders, good scorers. And maybe we should look into Lou as a backup?

5) Nene (i doubt that'll happen but why not try), Marc Gasol, Tyson Chandler, or DeAndre Jordan.

This is what our team would look like in our best case scenario:

1) Nash-Brooks
2) JRich-Dudley
3) Hill-James Jones
4) Randolph-Frye
5) Gasol-Gortat

Also, acceptable scenario:

1) Nash-Brooks
2) Crawford-Dudley
3) Hill-Childress
4) Frye-Green
5) Gortat-Lopez

Here is what I think the Suns need to be GREAT once again... or for the first time, depending on your definition of GREAT.

- Save Cap space
(1) Stephen Curry....
This Guy is the NEXT Steve Nash....
Great mid range shooter, Great 3PT shooter, Great Free Throw Shooter (50/40/90), Excellent Play Maker and team first mentality..... but can take over with his offensive arsenal when needed.

Suns should offer EVERYTHING for Stephen Curry period.

Forget Deron, Forget Chris Paul... as great as these guys are.... Stephen Curry is closest to Steve Nash.

- Carter's expiring + Suns pick + Brooks (re-signed) + Dudley + R.Lopez + Frye

for

- Stephen Curry + any salary dump GSW may have.

No disrespect but that looks like a lottery team for years to come

Return to Phoenix Suns
