All ima say is why trade such a talent like Josh Smith for 2 years of service, if you get that from Grant Hill and Steve Nash?

I like Josh Smith, but this team isn't going to do much as it is. there has to be a shake up. With Nash you get a true point guard who can take Teague up under his wings for two maybe three years. and by making Kirk the six man and the addition of Grant Hill our bench gets deeper. plus we get a true center( will lopez pan out, that is a risk I would be willing to take). and Childress is better than Marvin.

I would rather get back in the Lottery for a year than to stay in this state of absolutely no hope to get out of the first or second round in the playoffs

But why not trade Josh to a team that would give us a lottery.Toronto would probably give us the top 5 and Bargnarni for Josh.We draft Perry Jones or Terrance Jones IMO

The raptors would never give up a top 5 AND bargnani for josh. We would pulled the trigger on that a while ago.

The key is "WE". Atlanta Spirit dont see the reason to do a thing like upgrading. Sad thing is i can really see us sliding to the 7th or 8th spot in the conference. I guess the bottom line is as long as we make the playoffs.

Change is needed for sure and I hope the ASG notice as well. Giving up Josh Smith makes no sense to me if it's for Steve Nash. The last thing we need is to trade Josh for a rental. Myrak, that lineup still won't compete against the elite teams in the league and I personally want nothing to do with Josh Childress.

not sure if it would compete with the elite teams or not, that line up is better than what we have now and it is better than what the suns have.

Toronto could be a trading partner, but not for Bargnani. The key would be the pick if something like Enes Kanter is available. Kanter would be the Center down low with Horford moving to the 4. The rest of the trade would more likely be someone like Calderon and contract filler. I'm not in favor of trading Josh to draft another forward, if Kanter or Irving isn't available at the pick I don't do the trade. Another forward is change for change's sake and would be a setback or an expensive way to replace Marvin. The acquisition of Calderon allows the use of Hinrich as a backup combo guard rather than starting PG which allows Jamal to walk staying within financial constraints.

Calderon/Teague
Johnson/Hinrich/Sy
Williams/Wilkins
Horford/Powell/Sidney
Kanter/Pachulia/Armstrong

I'm still pushing for the gamble of Renardo Sidney in the 2nd round with the possibility of him turning into the next Kendrick Perkins. Powell and Armstrong are placeholders as they might be replaced with other veteran minimum players. If Jason Collins wants another year I give it to him.

BTW, this could all be a pipe dream as Toronto may not even want Josh since they have Ed Davis and Amir Johnson already. I think it might be more likely to talk to Cleveland about their 2nd 1st rounder in order to get Kanter (if he's still on the board).

After watching tonight's game vs Chicago I question whether we could trade Josh for a 1st round pick at all let alone one in the lottery.

Anyone know if the pick we sent Washington had lottery protection on it? It's a long shot with only 17 games left but we are only 10 games up on the Pacers and Bobcats.

Change, alone, is not what we need. IMPROVEMENT is.

But I'm not sure if we need to improve our chemistry or our overall talent level. I've screamed for Bogut for so long that no one wants to hear it ....

... but if not him (for Joe/Smoove) then what?
Smoove for Nash/Lopez? We'd be buying ONE year of Nash. Lopez had better grow up and be good.
Smoove for Thabeet/Corley? We'd have to pray Thabeet turns out well. I'm not so sure he even cares to work.
Smoove for Oden? I think I like that.... and POR will need a PF if they settle on Aldridge for Center. Huuuuuge gamble, however.
NJ fans have screamed no to a Smoove for Lopez deal.

See the pattern? They're all Smoove trades - - and I love the guy. But he's the only one we can use in a deal: Horford is too close to busting out as a superstar. Joe is hurt, I think, but either way, his production makes him impossible to deal. Marvelous is untradeable. So's Jamal, now that the trade deadline's past. And if we re-sign him, he'll be a BYC player. Teague could be traded but his price would be too low to help.

We're stuck having to deal a potential star (blocks/rebounds/points/steals/assists) because he's a bonehead and we can't trust him.

If not Bogut, then I think I'd try Smoove for Oden and as much extra as we can get.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Horford is just a great consistent guy to me. I mean I love his consistency, but he has no fire to make him a potential super star. Super star players have some kind of fire to want the ball in desperate times or when your team is struggling. If Kevin Love can average 20-20 games, then Horford should at least go 15-15. Josh makes bone head plays because he wants to be that guy to lead his team, but has no coach to coach him into that guy.Horford is to passive, even when he gets the ball.Him and Nene are the same size and Nene produces more like a star player than Horford offensively and defensively. Nene is a bull in the low post and a consistent mid-range guy. If Josh is on your list of tradable guys, then I think horford can join that list as well.

no one on this team is untouchable. trade all of them. Horford and Josh Smith for Dwight Howard, Marvin and draft pick for Bargnani, bring in Dalembert and Yi via FA. I believe Tayshaun Prince is a FA this summer go after him. new line up

Kirk/ Teague
JJ/ JC
Prince/Wilkens
Bargnani/Yi
Dwight Howard/ Dalembert

new plan.... go after all unrestricted free agents this summer. don't resign armstrong, collins, crawford, powell, etan, or wilkins. and target Tayshaun prince, Sasha Vujacic, T Mac, Chuck Hayes, Michael Redd, and Samuel Dalembert. new line up

T Mac/ Kirk/ Teague
JJ/ Redd/kirk/Sasha
Prince/Marvin/Sasha
Smoove/Chuck Hayes
Horford/ Dalembert/Zaza

even though Horford is the starting Center he would only play about 40% of his time there the other 60% would be PF. T Mac and Prince would only play about 25 minutes a night Redd about 20 minutes.

how about a trade with the Bucks. Smith and Marvin for Bogut and Maggette and a first round pick?

Milwaukee is a top 5 defense when Bogut plays. Smith simply doesn't have that impact.

here would be a real "off season shake up"

step 1. Trade Joe, Marvin, and Zaza for Dalembert, Donte Greene, and Jermaine Taylor

step 2. Resign Jamal for 10M per year

step 3. Horford pulls a D.Wade or David Robinson and pretends to be injured for the majority of the year and the Hawks tank

step 4. Hawks draft Marquis Teague (or Quincy Miller)

step 5. Hawks offer max and sign Dwight

Dwight
Horford
Smoove
Crawford
Teague

10M per for how many years? Any increases? 10M is a bit steep for Jamal imo.

good plan, I like Taylor although Thornton is a better shooter, Taylor has potential. I'm all for trading those guys you listed. Dalembert is expiring though.
