No new assistant anytime soon

Post#1 » by Fido » Sat Mar 12, 2011 5:26 pm

This actually makes sense. There is less than 20 games left, no time to interview prospective candidates, most guys already have their job through the year, lockout looming. There will be more time this offseason to spend lining up candidates and make some focused decisions as the transition actually gets to dig its feet in.

It makes sense because we've given up on the season so might as well loose big to get another pick.

Yah Ty needs an old time Vet sitting next to him because he is over his head right now. Give the man an offseason to build a team in his name and then we can hate him.

This is horrible the guys like Favors needs all the help he can get shows me the Millers are cheap and pisses me off letting Favors youth go to waste instead of getting him help and making him become a ball player now not latter.

Favors doesn't have time to work with a position coach now anyway. This far into the season it would be wasted effort. He'll get some time with a couple of decent coaches during the off season. He'll come back bigger, stronger and faster. His footwork will improve and he know how to read a post defender.

The issue is going to be how he thinks. Right now he's taking bad defensive risks. He makes poor defensive choices. Changing that sometimes takes more than a summer. It can take years.

As an example, just look at Fes.

Corbin couldn't find a "good" 1st assistant this time of year. They're all working. I think his approach is good. Maybe Layden will get another job and Corbin can hire two.
