Alec Burks has another good game today in an upset of Kansas State. Guy could make himself a lot of money if he can get Colorado into the tourney, especially if they win a game.

The only surefire star as far as I'm concerned is Irving. But because God hates the Jazz, a Nets team without Williams is on a mini-tear and our pick is locking it at #6. Minnesota and Detroit are the only teams with a realistic chance of catching them and they're each at least 4 games back with much tougher schedules.

I'm just **** pissed at our luck.

Looking at NJ's schedule I see them losing 12 or 13 of their final 18. Is that enough to stay in the 6th spot? I hope so but Detroit is only a game ahead of them. They look to have an easier schedule then the nets, unless they decide to tank it.

The lockout impacts the draft in several ways.

If there is a lockout fewer college players declare for the draft. The draft takes place, but the players draft can't sign contracts and they don't get paid until the lockout is over. If it lasts a whole season, then they can't play college ball or pro ball and they have no income. When the lockout is over, the team that drafted them retains their rights.

If the lockout only lasts for part of the season, then the rookies lose training camp, lose summer league and lose the extra time and coaching they would normally get in order to integrate into the system. In general, it makes it harder for them to play well in a shortened season.

Lockouts hurt a lot of people who don't make millions a year for shooting a ball. It's sad that the greed and arrogance runs so high. I realize their is no sympathy for the "rich" owners, but the fact is they do take all the risk but the players want most of the money. It reminds of the government and how taxes on investments work. When someone makes money the government wants their full share immediately. When that same person loses money, well they can only deduct a max of $3000 a year. Players are the same way. When times are good they want it all. When times are bad they don't want to give back but a little.

If the NFL can not reach a contract settlement and a lockout lasts more than a couple of months expect a long and brutal one with the NBA. If the NFL settles in the next month or two and the season starts on time, The NBA won't have support to sustain an ugly situation when the NBA is losing big money and the NFL isn't.

Harrison Barnes is really good. John Henson is horrible, he's somewhere between Thabeet and Anthony Randolph. Worried that Sullinger will never get a shot off without being blocked, but he's not going to Utah anyway because he's a horrible fit.

Lets see, the Nets pick could be worthless with the CBA and kids pulling out of the draft, PLUS the Nets winning four in a row pretty much dismisses the chance of NJ slipping down further in the rankings.

The Warriors have a .450 record, which is 12th worst this season, what if they are a bit better next season? Wouldn't be much of a pick.

I'm not even sure if Favors/Jefferson is the ideal front court, and it's basically our strength right now.

Our current coach is in a multi year contract, and he's WAY worse than Sloan, and even with Sloan I'd say we were just above the mediocrity line, unless you love fighting to get out of the first round every year. I want a damn contender, and sorry, but it's not going to happen, the closest chance was a dozen years ago already.

I hope as much as the next person that I'm wrong, but man lets face it, no one wants to come to SLC. Yes I understand you SLC/Utah locals are happy there, but think about this, if there was a team in Vermont, and you were a young rich athlete, would you want to go there, or NYC, LA, Miami.. etc. I can't blame them. I've received great job opportunities around the country and even in other countries, but I'm not going to move from Miami to some small town in Wisconsin, even for a good salary. To paraphrase a comedian - "Your rent may be dirt cheap, but you step outside and you're in Alabama, but when I step outside I'm in NYC"

Kyrie Irving-Post prime CP3
Jonas Valanciunas-Joakim Noah (Better offense, slightly worse shot blocking)
Derrick Williams-Paul Millsap (Less interior scoring, much better shooting)
Jared Sullinger-Psycho T (Less active, more intelligent)
Perry Jones-Anthony Randolph (Much better interior scoring, worse shot blocking and rebounding)
Harrison Barnes-CJ Miles (100x more clutch, better shot selection and D)
Enes Kanter-7'0 Boozer (With super high bust potential)
John Henson-Anthony Randolph (Less talented on offense)
