Arizona is still recovering and is based around 2nd year players. NExt year they have Sean Millers first real recruiting class coming in (top 5) and should be a force.

They're also losing one of the best players in the NCAA. Derrick Williams really is Arizona's entire team..without him, they wouldn't even be in the tournament. I expect growing pains next year.

Washington, on the other end, might be the Pac 10 favorite.

As incredible as Dwill is, he really is not their whole team. I mean, when you take a top 3 player in the country off any team, they get significantly worse. Keep in my mind that it's only ARizona's second year with Sean Miller after being at ground zero beforehand. They may or may not be a tournament team without him, but you have to give a lot of credit to SM and the rest of their team for how they have played.

Arizona is built upon second year players and even with Dwill, they have major holes. Next year, their core (KP, Solo, Momo) will have aged a year and have gained a lot of experience. They are only losing Horne to graduating (and Dwill). They are bringing in a top 5 recruiting class that fills their needs very well. Although it is no guarantee that Dwill is leaving (he likely is but whatever), Arizona will be a top 15 team next year regardless. They will also be ranked in preseason polls above Washington.

Out of curiosity, what team in the pac-10 do you root for?

I don't root for any Pac 10 team, I just know NCAA basketball.

Williams is essentially their entire offense and the main reason why they are good this year. A top 5 recruiting class will not fill what he brings next season. I consider it very unlikely that they'll be ranked above Washington (who will be returning an impact player in Thomas and guys with huge potential in Ross and Gaddy).

As someone who watches a ton of college ball and has seen every AZ game over the past two years, I think you are severely underrating the rest of the roster and Sean Miller.

Look at the talent he had on his Xavier teams and look at what he did with them.
Having a real pg next year is going to do wonders for the team. Josiah Turner is not only an outstanding prospect, but he fills a huge void. Not to mention Nick Johnson, Angelo Chol and Sidiki Johnson.
(they also will have a top 3 class in 2012 with B Ashley, Rosco Allen and Grant Jarrett)
PArrom and Hill are both great players and the team will be elite next year, with or without Derrick.

Leonard is just quietly going about his business as a top prospect. He's Marionish in game I think. Or a suped up Haslem. Or an Ariza but a better rebounder. But definitely a SF. Imagine our line-up with Ariza and see if it's a good fit.

ESPN in the states, not sure it's being shown here, which means you'll have to look around online. *cough*soccertvlive*cough*

I just don't get it, you'd think Duke/UNC would be ratings gold but NO ONE bothers to pick it up here? Christ. Thanks for the online suggestion anyways

UNC getting spanked right now, Barnes not doing much. And as I type that he throws down a nice dunk.

Barnes not showing up today...Nolan Smith is destroying.

Hypothetically speaking, if Smith leads Duke to championship and puts up solid numbers while playing great D...does he factor into any conversation for our pick? I don't see why we should be discussing Kemba Walker without giving Nolan Smith some consideration. The guy is a winner

Duke pretty much has this game won.

Barnes tried to get it going, but Duke's halfcourt 'D too much for him and the Tarheels.

explain.

Not the most glamourous choice i know. But If we pick in the 7-10 range youre telling me you would rather roll the dice on someone like Alec Burks or Jimmer Fedette? I say why not pick a proven winner that can defend, shoot, and distribute.

I think Nolan Smith is too much of a "safe pick". He'd be a Chris Duhon type in my opinion. Simply a back-up who does the right things, but doesn't put you over the top. He seems like a late-first to early second rounder at best. I could see a team like San Antonio taking him though, but he's not a top-10 pick.

I think he's more of a Aaron Afflalo type - plus defender, and a natural shot with range. Of course, that his his upside. I do like your Duhon comparison, but he seems like much more of a 2-guard to me than Duhon, who is a natural 1 as a facilitator and a worse scorer.

question is, would you draft Afflalo if he was 5th pick overall? If he could be a 15ppg scorer and a plus defender? that's solid value at that position. And i dont care if he plays the same position as DeMar - you always draft the best talent available.
