LeBron
Wade
Howard
Williams
Paul
Kobe
Gasol
Durant
Dirk
Nash
Are my top 10 in no particular order. They're in the 10-15 range. And I can't believe some are arguing Amar'e as Dirks equal or superior. That's homerism at its finest.

Re: do we have 2 of the top 10 players?
It gets difficult to explain the Knicks record being so far behind so many other teams if they truly have 2 top ten players.
I think that Stoudemire and Anthony are top ten offensive players. They are dominant at half of the game. They are not much better than average in the other half of the game.

Explain how Dirk is overall better than amare. The only thing dirk does better is shoot jumpshots. That's it.

This. The only thing that I'm more concerned (I'm not really concerned) about is if we have a better 1-2 punch then other teams? we have Melo and Amare, other teams have Kobe/Pau, James/Wade, KG/That other guy. This is where I'm more focused on than who is the better individual player. This is a team game., I don't care about that.

I've been on the THjr bandwagon since summer league, and I would trade him for Rondo. IMO Rondo is the third best PG in the NBA after Curry and CP3. I doubt anything happens though.

Re: do we have 2 of the top 10 players?
The top ten in the NBA:
Kobe
Wade
Lebron
Dwight
Amare
Melo
Durant
Rose
D Will
Dirk
10. Dirk does nothing but score on a loaded Dallas team. NO Defense what so ever. But DIrk is 7 feet tall and his step back jumper is unstoppable in the mid range. Dirk is soft, yet he is extremely talented on the offensive end and one of the most unique players the NBA has ever seen. He is also a winner.
9. Deron WIlliams is sound all around but hasn't even taken his team to even a conference finals yet. That said he still the best point guard in the NBA (at the moment).
8. Rose is the MVP of the NBA in the truest sense (He probably won't win it) but is still inefficient and young. Maybe the most explosive athlete in the NBA today and a pure natural on the court. He will be the very best player barring injury in the next 1-2 years unless LeBron James gets some heart.
7. Durant has no body and is still a weak defender(mostly due to his lack of bulk/youth) despite being one of the most gifted scorers in NBA history. I am not totally sold on Durant until I see a great playoff performance ( He played terrible against Artest last year). If Durant ever adjusts to stronger defenders and fully develops his post game, then he has a chance to truly be the best player in the league someday very soon.
6. Melo has the same problem as Amare, a lack of effort for 48 minutes on both sides of the ball. Unstoppable on offense and yet he stops himself at the defensive end after showing he is a capable defender with effort. Melo is a beast still waiting to be unleashed to his full potential. Only Melo can stop Melo.,
5. Amare in every season that he has been healthy with exception to his rookie year, he has been 1st or 2nd team All-NBA. He and Melo both suffer from a lack of effort on D and yet he is still in the top five in blocks. He needs an on ball defensive big/center to allow him to roam and make plays off the weakside on defense. Only Dirk can rival Amare as a scorer amongst big men in the NBA.
No microfracture surgery and Stoudemire would already be the best player in the NBA right now (Let me dream!)
4. Dwight is a beast at both ends due to his extreme athleticism( like Amare pre microfracture surgery) But he is still very robotic in the post on offense and still gets into a lot of foul trouble for a defensive player of the year level player. Dwight will take the leap to the top if he develops a true killer instinct and curbs his temper just a little.
3. LeBron is the most physically gifted player in the league today, but mentally he is weak when his teams need direction and leadership. He is more Pippen than Jordan mentally. LeBron is a true point/small forward and needs to play that way. He will figure it out at some point and reach his true potential. If not, he will be a rich man's Pippen/ Grant Hill forever.
2. Wade's only rival as a player is Kobe. Wade is the best finisher at the rim as a guard and is one the best closers in the NBA. He has a complete all around floor game. Injuries have slowed him since 2006 but only Derrick Rose or Tony Parker can get into the paint at will like Wade. Team USA 2008 proved just how good of a defender Wade can be when he doesn't have to carry the offensive load all game.
1. Kobe is just Kobe. I hate his guts and I think he is a Michael Jordan wannabe. But the thing that makes Kobe the best today is that he wants to win at all cost and will do what it takes. More practice? Kobe does it. Talk **** to his team after they perform badly? Kobe is all in. Take the big shot on the biggest stages and Kobe says give me the rock with no fear what so ever. Play some D on the best player? Kobe will do it (though not as well as he used to).
Kobe commands respect because he is not only more talented, but more accountable and will step up when his team needs it most.
They will have two of the Top 5 players in 2-3 years without question barring an injury to Melo or Amare.
Kobe
Wade
Lebron
Dwight
Amare
Melo
Durant
Rose

Without a full practice under their belt Amare and Melo are two inexplicable losses to the cavs and a jordanesque fourth quarter from Jameer Nelson away from being 9-1. You tell me what their record should be given the circumstances.

Probably because of these two reasons.......
1)Amar'e was here by himself for more than half the season as the only star player.
2)Melo joined on 10 games ago.
Do you think that players should have the time to form some chemistry or do they just go out there and do whatever?

Newsflash
Melo hasnt been on the team all year so why would you have to explain the record?

Amare is better in just about every statistical category than Dirk, so Homerism beats Ignorance in this instance I believe

Re: do we have 2 of the top 10 players?
Carmelo is top 10 because he is possibly the most talented offensive player, which makes up for him not being a great defender. Amare on the other hand doesnt play nearly good enough defense to make the top 10. Kobe, Durant, Lebron, Wade, Dwight Howard, Rose, D-Will... Actually as I try to come up with 10 guys better I dont think I can..

Yes, both Melo and Amare are probably both in the top 10. Gasol is the only guy that could arguably be in there instead. Griffin will be top 10 someday, maybe as early as next year, but for now he's not.
