AK needs to go

Post#1 » by Reckless » Sun Mar 13, 2011 7:26 am

This year AK has continued his gradual decline as a nba basketball player. I don't want to be like the Pistons of the West and keep our former star players way too long instead of developing and building around young talent. It's time to let AK go.

AK had a really, really bad game tonight, but he's shown his worth many times throughout the year. Obviously the price has to be right, but he's still a very valuable and versatile player.

Ak should have been pulled from the game. He has helped more then he hurt this year. He has had some bad games recently but really this whole jazz team is funky right now.

looking at all the options I don't mind him coming back but wouldn't mind the jazz going in anonther direction either. I think if AK wants to sign for around the MLE price he would be better then most.

Ak has to continue, but at the right price.
He knows he is not a star anymore and he still can contribute in so many ways.

We're about 4 years too late on that one, friend.... We should have traded Kirilenko when it was apparent that his value to the team was only a small fraction of his max contract. But since we didn't....I'm in the camp that would be happy to see him sign with us again for his market value.

He was not used correctly by the Jazz his enitre career. He is a PF!!!! In the second half yesterday he played PF and he and the Jazz played much better.

That being said...AK-47 has one foot out the door already and Hayward needs to start the rest of the season (maybe with AK-47 at PF).

Try something new Corbin (just dont be a Sloan Jr.)
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

I think you're crazy if you want him gone. He is the most versatile player in the league and he has had an awesome overall season. Only bad thing has been his injuries.

Stop overreacting because he had his worst game of the season, fact is AK has been playing significantly better since D-Will left.

I agree, that was the worst I've ever seen him play offensively.. after that second airball 3 early in transition he probably should have been sat down and let someone else take over.

Not sure about the future of AK with us, he's such a good player.. all depends on the price.

I think AK is going to want around 7m/year. That's just too much. MLE or let him go.

LOL really? He didn't hold a gun to the owners head and force him to give him that contract and he certainly didn't force them to sign Boozer and move him out of the position he was an all-star in.

Lol... you should actually go back and read some of AKs quotes during the contract negotiations

I think a SG is more in priority with for the MLE

unless you guys love the raja cj combination that's workin well for us

i don't know why you guys want to keep throwing money at AK but i guess that's your plan for the jazz future.

You say that as if the other swing position is locked up. Unless you think playing CJ at SF is workin' well for us.

Clearly we need an SG/SF who is a reliable scorer. Could be Hayward, but even so, we need another one. That's why it's great that we have one, possibly two, draft pricks.

Who is this young, dynamic, but available-for-the-MLE SG we should be snatching up this summer instead of re-signing a great, versatile glue guy like AK?

I would not call AK a glue guy at all. I feel like he is more of an alienating presence than anything

Glue guy is someone like Raja Bell, now if only Bell had the capacity to play like an NBA player. Unfortunatly we have to deal with Raja Bell the "starting SG"

We don't even know if the MLE will exist after this summer.

If we can keep AK for an average of 7m/year or less, then he's a good investment. He's a proven winning player and does a lot of things well. Just because he terribly under-performed his last contract is no reason to get irrational and vindictive. He's good, he likes it here, and he has shown an ability to produce at a high level for a playoff contender. You don't just let players like that walk away so you can play Gordon freaking Hayward.

As long as no one makes him a ridiculous offer (and its impossible to say what will happen with all the CBA uncertainty) then I think you have to keep him. Let's not get carried away here. AK is the best defender by a mile on this team. And in case you've noticed, we can't stop **** around here.
