Question for Bobcats fans

Post#1 » by chube » Mon Mar 14, 2011 12:24 am

Indiana native here (don't worry, I'm not here to start a Pacers/Bobcats 8th seed thing.)

I read on ESPN.com that Coach Silas is getting frustrated by Boris Diaw's play and said that he might lose playing time to Tyrus Thomas and/or D.J. White.

How's DJ White looking so far as a Bobcat? He barely got off the bench in OKC. And being an IU alum, I had my reservations about how DJ would do in the pros but he's a good dude so I hope he does well and I hope Charlotte is a place where he can blossom.

So what's the word on him so far?

Thanks in advance.

People are excited by him. Pretty much automatic from the elbow, plays hard. I think the front office looks at him as a solid backup 4 once Diaw is gone (contract is up next year). He played great against Portland and got some clutch minutes. Think he will stick on here and get 15-20 MPG.

He has really been a bright spot. He has come in and provided terrific energy. He's played pretty good defense, rebounded the ball, and been almost automatic in the mid-range game. We won that game in Portland thanks in large part to his contributions down the stretch. I think he has shown he has great potential to be a very serviciable if not good option off the bench. Obviously it is a relatively small sample size, but so far he has been excellent. I get excited everytime he comes int he game. He is just johny on the spot. HOpefully he can keep it up all season, if so then he will be a solid bench asset. He is averaging 10 and 6 in 20 minutes...not bad. I also like his size.

question back at you chube - seems tyler has really come on lately and has finally grabbed that starting pf spot. he had a monster game today vs knicks it seems. how does he look? is he showing any signs of a mid range game? how has he been defensively? and what the hell has been wrong with your team the past 2 weeks? you guys should be up 3-4 games on us by now.

He just seems to be in the right place at the right time - and not by accident. He knows his spots (elbow J, front and center of the rim etc) and knows how to get there.

I'm with b3w - I enjoy seeing him check into a game too. Would like to see him add some post moves though. With his length and touch, a baby hook would be a great weapon for him to have.

This. If he could develop a back to the basket game, Silas would be grinning from ear to ear and Diaw would be cemented to the bench. I'd like to see him rebound more aggressively too, become a Reggie Evans type of player.

Ever since the trade, he has been putting up solid numbers for us. I love his short jumper near the free throw line. He can knock that down consistently. I can see him becoming a rotation player for any team. His floor is maybe becoming the 9th-10th man off the bench.

He's had a pretty impressive run... particularly the rebounding has been beastly. It's only been 8 games though, this is pretty premature.
