Just a point in my defense, I don't believe the last roster spot has a caphold of 854k, according to Coon: http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#Q14

Which if true, would be around 450ishk, which would be enough for my roster to be under the caphold.

i believe you are correct, cap hold is for a rookie min, not vet min, but I believe the 3 guys you signed then deleted a day later will be considered on your roster, but with the rookie cap hold you are just below the hard cap

the problem with the trade is you are taking on extra salary (very little) but that extra salary puts you above the hard cap, you need to be trading away more then you are receiving.
