GT: Spurs vs. Heat

Post#1 » by Nolan » Mon Mar 14, 2011 3:32 am

When: 8:00 PM ET, March 14, 2011
Where: AmericanAirlines Arena, Miami, FL

Starting Lineups:

Spurs:
PG - Tony Parker
SG - Manu Ginobili
SF - Richard Jefferson
PF - Tim Duncan
C - Antonio McDyess

Heat:
PG - Mario Chalmers
SG - Dwanye Wade
SF - LeBron James
PF - Chris Bosh
C - Erick Dampier

Well last time we played the Heat we beat them by 30 so i'm guessing their going to show up for this game. The key to winning this one is going to be playing great defense and doing our best to stop Miami's big three.

Go Spurs!!
@bruce_arthur "And finally, as a whore." RT @docfunk "Here is what LeBron looks like as a Knick, a Fireman, an Astronaut..."

My guess is we lose. Too much going stuff in their favor.

Their homecourt.

Revenge on their mind. We will probably start the game waiting to see what they do.

They're still kinda fresh off their losing streak so their focus should be there.

IMO the key will be our 3 point shooting and the big 3 defense. I'm extremely certain Lebron gets his numbers. Wade will most likely too. But if we keep Bosh in check, they're gonna need their bench/role players to step up. That's not one of their consistent theme of the season.

Offensively, Miami is a very athletic team and they can close out quick on the 3 point line. After what happened last game, I'm sure they're gonna make it a point not to give up open 3s. If we can't make our 3s, we have no chance.

Hopefully we win, but this is a loss on my calender.

Yeah I don't think we'll win this game. Would be nice though.

How does this thread only have 2 posts in it? Huge game! Cant wait!

We dont have any excuses this time around. Last time, on a back to back on the road after spending all of our energy trying to hold off an insane comeback by the Magic. Tonight, we're on a nights rest, after putting together 2 very good games... we dont have any excuses not to bring it hard.

Hoping for a good one!

Are there any Spurs fans here? You guys got another board or something? Where is the talk on here?

Spurstalk.com is the most popular forum..

Co_laper, seems that you have our calendar full of losses. Anyways, it's a really tough game that we all should enjoy no matter the score. Hope spurs get the W.

A key is no turnovers and transition D.

Well I predicted we win againts Houston, Sacramento, and Detroit but that was too obvious. Those are games where even the dumbest guys will predict we win. I should've said something like "easy win, next..."

I'm dead on for this month's losses. Losing to Memphis first game of the month? 50-50 but it was in Memphis and our last game in February was a win againts Memphis at home. We have 2 games each againts Miami and LA this month. I predicted we go 1-1 againts both of those teams. We won againts Miami first game and lost today. We lost againts LA last game and we'll meet them again end of month and I predict a win for that.

Againts awful teams, i'll always say wins. That's the logical prediction.

Againts teams just as good or as talented, lots of factors come to mind. Who's on the back end of B2b, injuries, homecourt advantage, what happened the last game and whether should be out looking for revenge, Superstar talent in case the game is close come 4th quarter.

Let me guess thou, you predicted a season sweep of LA, Miami, Boston, Orlando, and Dallas? We were setting an NBA record with 82-0?

The first Miami game was favored to us because Miami was on a b2b, we were rested, and we're at home. blow them out by 30. Even if you look at sports betting, they all predict a Miami win. Can't say I'm the only one who thought this was going to be a loss can't it?

Yeah I have noticed that all you do is predict losses unless we're playing teams like Detroit or Minnesota. You're like the Eeyore of the Spurs board.

DK, you're one of those that says we win 82 games.

Let's crush the Lakers. Let's crush the Heat.

We never lose. It's like nothing is ever againts our favor.

Away game, don't matter we win.

B2b, don't matter... we win.

Previous head to head meeting, don't matter.. we win.

Who's injured, don't matter. We win.

I don't predict losses all the time. I don't go on and saying we lose everytime we meet LA, Boston, and all the top teams. I always point out why I think so and the factors that always effect the game are the stuffs I listed above. You just think we crush everybody for no apparent reason... probably because we're just like 5 levels above everybody or something.

If the situation was reversed, we got our ass kicked our last game by 30 at their home floor even though we were on the wrong end of b2b and now it's at our place, I bet even the guys who make the odds on sports betting say the Spurs win the game.

To make you both happy thou, I do think Spurs lose the next game.

The Spurs beat Dallas the 2 previous game. We've met them three times.
1st game, we lose at home.
2nd game, we win at their place.
3rd game, we win at home.

now it's at their place and considering we won once at their place, it's gonna be hard to beat them twice there. And we've beaten them the last 2 games. Plus, we've got a comfortable lead in the standings right now. Dallas is fighting off LA for the 2nd seed. Like what Manu said againts the Heat, "they need the game more". Same goes againts Dallas. The situation favors them.

The one thing we got going for us is we came off a loss so i doubt we get blown out again. The game will be close.

But let's crush these fools.

Actually, I don't. I sometimes think we will lose games. Go check some old game threads if you don't believe me. I don't predict a loss every time like you do though. You must be really shocked that we're 54-13, by your calendar we should be 3-64 and headed for the lottery.

We have like 8 fans on the spurs board and two of them are fighting! Yeaaaaaaaaaa!

In seriousness though, we never really looked in this game. Our offense never really clicked, and I think we did well to hang around for as long as we did. Miami look so much better when they go to Bosh, it spreads the floor for Wade and James to hit those midrange jumpers they like to take. It might make you think 'well good, as long as theyre not getting to the rim', but if theyre wide open on their jumpers, it's money 90% of the time.

Lets hope our wings step it up for our next game, our days of riding Timmy to the W are sadly over.

Am I shocked we're 54-13? YES...

Who isn't? You're gonna tell me you had all this figured out before the season begin?

I predict losses every game? That's exactly like I'm saying you predict wins every game. Crush LA and Crush Heat is just the perfect examples. Those are two games that is not in our favor. I don't even know how you predict games. You're just one of those that says we win every game. No explanation. You think sometimes we lose games?

By your prediction, we should be 66-1 (which ever game you did predict we lose). You must be shocked we're just 54-13.

I kept on waiting for a string of games where we need Timmy most and he delivers. I was hoping Parker was out a little longer just to see whether Timmy would start demanding touches and we could see if he could still do it.

At this point, the team is successful playing an offense where Timmy is just a role player. I barely see TD get like 5 post ups every game now. Come playoff time and I think a lot of us expects Timmy to be more of a factor offensively, will that be in the best interest of the team? We didn't get this record giving Timmy 20 touches a game. Not to mention it'll slow the game down. We'd be going the the opposite direction of how we play this year.

It'd be interesting to see how Timmy plays come playoff time. I think if we're going to let TD be a bigger focus of the offense in the playoffs, it has to be experimented on some of our games late in the season. Makes it emphasis on giving TD the ball for a short string of games just to see whether we can still count on him doing that when we needed him to.

Just to clarify, me saying "let's crush team x" simply means I hope to win a game against a hated rival -- this is what fans do. They hope their favorite team beats whoever it is they happen to be playing against. By hoping to crush them it doesn't necessarily mean I think that we will beat them. It's not a prediction. It's what I hope for.

Hope this clears things up for you.
