why westphal dont run the simple pick and roll?

Post#1 » by LeBron's Time » Sun Mar 13, 2011 6:17 am

if a coach have good young bigman on his team and he dont run the simple pick and roll. that coach needs to go. pick and roll is another offensive option to any team. do wesphal have a system? what the king players did on the court is individual talent, kings need a better coach!

Westphal is all about being unpredictable.. So much so he fools himself with his playcalling and his lineups

Our offensive scheme is really weak, its basically a neutured version of a motion offense. Basically we make the same cuts and movements as a motiin offense but we dont make passes ball movement is based on a lot of hand offs and short shuffle passes. The major problem with the offense is that it totally screws up our spacing to actually have players have to come to each other to get the ball. Rarely do you see the kings swing the ball around on the perimeter it always devolves into one on one situations because with hand off passes everyone gets crowded to gether so players choose to make plays for themselves instead of look ing for team mates.

What we need to do is just start making passes when the players are still spread out and force the defense to deal with our teams strenghths by forcing them to deal with our guys one on one instead of simply giving them the opportunityto collapse on the lane and have multiple defenders.

Our scheme is run, run, run and if it's not working shuffle players in and out until something clicks.

I'm more annoyed with his rotation pattern at this point. I don't understand repeatedly playing his best players all of the 3rd and them taking them out at around the 6-8 minute mark in the 4th for some rest. That's when you should be putting those players BACK IN!!!! Somebody seriously needs to get this guy some tape on Rick Adelman, for real.

Coach is lucky Demarucs even in his young age cna practicly create on his own for himself and for everyone else, aslong as the guys around him move without the ball.

When we're not running through Demarcus you can see how hopeless and clueless Westphal really is.

It bothers me how some people still have his back around here.

haha thats what i have always thought.

When you have a big man who can shoot outside and pass as good as DMC, the pick and roll should be a prominent part of your offensive strategy. We hardly use it and when we do, it seems like it always runs through Dally. weird

When your allowed to pass the ball around until you find someone iso'd up AS a coach you are NOT investing in your players growth and bball IQ. All of these iso/ creating your own shot plays that Westphal has run all year is basically wasted opportunity for these young guys attempting to run an NBA offense.

WESTPHAL HAS GOTTA GO!

It just donned on me, what if the Maloofs made this hire knowing Westphal Blows and the Kings would be a loser come Move time, making the move to Anaheim easier? things that make you go hhmmmmmm

Remember earlier in the year when the Celtics were making fun of the Heat by showing they knew all their plays? The Heat have an amazing playbook compared to the Kings.

Whatever happens this year, it is extremely unclear what will happen next season. Head coach Rick Adelman's contract is up at season's end and Adelman, who lives in Portland, has been saying that he isn't sure if he'll retire or if he'll opt to return.
The decision may not be his to make. The Houston Chronicle reports that Rockets owner Leslie Alexander isn't chomping at the bit to get Adelman back. "At the end of the season, I'll sit down with [general manager] Daryl [Morey] and we'll talk about it," Alexander said, the Chronicle reports. "Nothing has been done yet, or thought about yet in that regard."

I know it's a snow ball's chance in hell, but it's fun to dream. :dontknow:

He's the PERFECT coach for Cousins too.

I'm really on the Lawrence Frank and Terry Porter for a coaching staff bandwagon!
