I'm a big Garnett fan, but I'd build around James. They're both versatile, but James allows me to do more on the offensive end.

wuts the point... one can't win himself but sweats bucks just intensely swearing his lungs out, the other'll just ditch a team to take an easy route to win a ring
basically both player don't have balls to lead a team, at least KG can somewhat do it, but LeBron is too much of pu$$y to be a leader. I'd rather go with someone who can actually be a leader not a follower to start my franchise thus I'll go with KG.

um... kg only ok'd the trade to boston when he found out ray allen was traded there, so he could play with 2 superstars instead of just paul pierce

Wade + prime KG + fitting scrub role players >>> Heat 2011
and that's totally ignoring Bosh
LeBron's game doesn't fit well with other stars. KG fits perfectly with pretty much everyone.

that is true 2 an extent. but the problem is Bosh is not a defensive player. Bosh is like Kevin Martin at SF.
If Lebron had a driving point guard he would be unstoppable driving to the baseline/back door cutting. Also they can't get out and play a running style because no one can push the ball and put pressure on the defense, so instead of filling Lanes Lebron and Wade have to play PG themselves.

They need a PG who can push ala a younger Billups nothing wrong with the Heat except they are one player short of the style they want 2 play.

in spite of That being said: Billups, Wade, Gay, KG, Dalembert

KG averaged 20 and 10 for 9 straight seasons. He has been defensive player of the year. That's more than i can say for Lebron, but that doesn't mean Bron isn't the best player in the NBA right now. I would take KG in his prime though.
Mavs all day baby. And more importantly, GO RAMS GO!

2007 Pistons say hi!
Prime LeBron won 3 series in 07, 1 in 08, 2 in 09, 1 in 10. That is 7 in his prime (8 total).
KG only won 2 series total in Minnesota. He lost 7 straight playoff series, then went to the WCF. Then in the middle of his prime, missed the playoffs 3 straight times and had back to back 33 and 32 win seasons. LeBron took a crap team to 66 wins. He could take those Wolves teams to the WCSF. Garnett was a glorified Al Jefferson/Kevin Love. Put up a lot of empty meaningless stats.

Re: Starting a Franchise...Prime KG or Lebron?
LOL, LeBron's opponents are pathetic in comparison to Payton's Sonics, 2x Twin Tower Spurs, 2x Kobe-Shaq Lakers, 00 Blazers and Mavs 02. he never beat a team like that in the playoffs. so if you wanna bring up KG's playoff losses, at least be a man and acknowledge extreme competition. the only reason why Garnett couldn't get out of the first round was because he was facing 60W teams right away, while having Szczerbiak-type as his 2nd best player. you don't think Garnett would dismantle those pathetic Wizzards James faced like 3 times ?
and the best part is that... prime LeBron can't get past old KG

With ray allen, pierce, rondo and that stacked celtics roster. If lebron loses to them again with Wade/Bosh tho....

The reason he was facing extreme competition was because his team wasn't good enough in the regular season. What is KG's excuse from 05-07? 3 straight missed playoffs.

Mike James, Trenton Hassell, Mark Blount and Ricky Davis. have you seen these guys lately ?
exactly.
and the reason was different anyway, West had 4 60W teams every year. LeBron never beat any team like but he was able to advance past first round because of poor competition. once serious teams appeared, he was disappointing time after time... 35% shooting, 5 tovs in b2b years 07-08 against Spurs and Celtics. not to mention last year's game 5 and him quitting on his team.
