Blowing Layups

Post#1 » by LApwnd » Mon Mar 14, 2011 4:44 pm

I know we ALL know this but Fisher is the master at this and long 2's but in all of Laker history has there ever been anyone as bad as Fish in terms of not finishing at the rim? Knowing this fact, he still challenges 7 footers in the paint and rather then finish he purposely looks for contact in hopes of getting a foul called which 99% of the time he doesn't get. Normally one would advocate going strong to the rim as it is a higher % shot but for Fish it should be the exact opposite, he should just settle for 3's and long 2 then trying to challenge guys in the paint. Yes he is cluctch with his shooting come playoff time but I just cant imagine why he continously tries to challenge guys in the paint.

KWAME BROWN SIGHTING!

Fisher's intentions are right but obviously something needs to change. Instead of Fish trying to create plays he needs to start camping around the line and do his best "Sasha" impressions. At this stage of his career there is only so much he can do.

But we can only wait and see what kind of adjustment Phil is going to do as the games go by. Him being the coach he is I wonder what is going through his head right now and how much of what we see during regular games is gonna change. Whether drastically or any at all.

For what it's worth he's better than Steve Blake at finishing inside..

I cringe at the thought of Fisher driving in for a layup, and I have a heart attack when he actually does try it.

Well, Artest is guilty of this too. Whenever Gasol, Artest or anyone capable of dunking puts up a little fairy layup, this is what always pops in my head:

Yeah, the only reason he made it is because he got fouled. The impact of the foul caused his miss to become a make. Look at Kobe's cringe before it went in. I'm sorry, I love D-Fish and all, but he is as clutch in the playoffs as how bad he is at layups.

Ron blows more layups than any other Laker. I cringe when he goes attacks the hole on fastbreaks.
